Great video I really appreciate your videos yes I am a woman, and your videos help me out a lot! Even though I have a 2005 Chevy Equinox AWD the process is still similar for changing out cv axle and you even mark your title with Rear cv axle compared to most others, very helpful when in the moment of changing out and have the stop pause let me make sure!! Again thanks for great videos and title them correctly 😀👍🏼🤷🏻‍♀️😂

Just got one of these Fords (looks exactly like the one in this video). I noticed the rear bushings were torn up on both the upper and lower knuckle when I replaced the sway bar links . This video will help get me there for sure so thank you for that. I'm surprised the knuckle in this video was replaced without changing the bushings . I know for sure that If I hit that axle with a sledgehammer, I would probably end up busting up the threads on the wheel studs, as-seen-on-tv style.

Great video, I was able to get the cv out and in without have it to remove those back side hub bolts I can see how it helps having the hub out of the way but not necessary

I was going to do this myself, but I got stuck taking the parking brake cable loose at the spring, so I guess I have to put it back together to take it to the dealer

Just curious for a future project but can the whole differential housing be removed without removing each axle off the hubs? Do the axles pop out of the differential far enough in where the whole housing can be removed with taking the axle off the hubs? Thanks

Doesn’t appear to be much space between the frame and differential. How would you get the drain plug out of the differential on that particular design?

Help... I have a chevy equinox awd and I'm curious but on the back end where you used a pry bar to tap it free, why would mine have a space of at least 4 inches away from i will assume thats the transfer case ( I maybe wrong on part name) and I had it replaced not even a year ago? Is my axle still good, or would you assume that I would have to replace it again?

On my 2005 Explorer I'm getting vibration from 58mph up. The is some play on the inbound end of the CV drive shaft (rear driver side). Would this be the likely cause of my problem?

Since commenting I've swapped both rear CV axles, still vibrating. Swapped the u joints in the rear prop shaft, ran without the rear prop, ran without the front. Vibration is constant above 60 mph. :/ There's no play or noise in the wheel bearings, but I think I'll have swap then out too.

tires might not be balanced properly. sometimes people try to use the small harbor freight rim balancer and its not as effective as a balancing machine. i had that problem too and got my ttires rebalanced at a different shop and took care of my problem.

WorldClimb I have the same problem with my 2004. Did you ever find the problem? One person on a forum said he replace 3 insulators between the rear end & chassis and it fixed the vibration.

I don't agree that using a hammer will damage the CV axle. I do understand where you are coming from but the force you are applying is against the rust between the splines and the hub. However, if that rust weld is broken and then you continue to pound then yes, it will damage the CV because the force will then be directly applied the joint. Pound the CV is the only way to break that seal and everyone would be replacing there CV when replacing a wheel bearing.

My thoughts exactly! Thanks for posting this and thanks to 1A Auto for not going into defense mode and simply disagreeing! I do wish someone would make a rear bearing replacement video for GEN IV (2006 thru 2010). They are similar, but different! Especially the PRESS SET UP to remove hub, remove bearing, then press in new bearing and finally press in the hub! Rare to non existent on the internet! The only one I found, the bearing had to be cut out, which has to be the exception vs the norm (must have been a northern salt road exposure explorer)!
