In this video, I will show you how to remove and replace the rear wheel bearings and seals on a 2005-2007 Ford Mustang. This is a very easy job if you have the right tools. These tools include a slide hammer and a bearing installer. If your rear end sounds like it is growling or has a constant humming sound, then your wheel bearings need to be replaced.

To lubricate the new bearings, simply use the rear end gear oil you will be running in the unit. When the unit is properly filled with fluid, it will be what lubricates the bearings during their lifespan.
@TheMileHighMechanic
@TheMileHighMechanic Год назад
It really does not matter what you lube them up with along as you use something, I personally like to use assembly lube because it provides the most protection before the oil gets to it.
@Nitrodan73

@@TheMileHighMechanic Is it ok to use bearing grease?
@TheMileHighMechanic

@@Nitrodan73 I believe that will be fine, all the lube does is provide protection until the gear oil can make it through the axle.

Great video! I habe an oilleak at the rear. Now i know to get the axle shaft out and get to the seal. Not sure if thats the problem. Is there an other seal between the bearing housing and the axle housing itself? Maybe you can help👍

Axel bearing seal is stuck on impossibly tight for me unfortunately. Got to ask, is it fine to use the slide hammer to pull out the bearings and the stuck seal at the same time? At face value, it seems it would be significantly easier to pull out a rusted seal this way.

@@TheMileHighMechanic thanks for the quick reply! Always worried about doing so since so many people pull their seals out seperately before moving to their bearings. I wonder why that is or if there is some risk im not aware of. Great video by the way! Got me through most of my struggles!

@@-R.E.D.A.C.T.E.D- It's mainly because you can't get the bearing out until the seal is removed, but I guess slide hammering the seal and bearing at the same time could work🤷

@jasonandsummer5109 Год назад
@Mile High Mechanic hey one last question I put everything back together went for drive lastnight seen some oil on rims this morning I did put about 2.5 qts plus friction modifier you think it could just be a little over flow coming out of seals?
@TheMileHighMechanic
@TheMileHighMechanic Год назад
@@jasonandsummer5109 it is almost impossible to over fill the diff because you fill it up till starts to come out of the drain hole (can't over fill because of this). If there is oil coming out of the axle then the seals are not sealing properly. I recommend taking off the wheel and inspecting the seal to see if is actually making a seal. If not you might want to get different seals.
