Thank you! I will be sure to do more of these types of videos if and when I repair things around the house. The issue is when I do the repairs, in many cases, I'm just trying to get them done, and forget to film them! I just repaired a freezer and a clothes dryer and of course, didn't film them. ;-)

Good job, computer guy! I would have benefitted from knowing the benefits of the Reme-Halo device in your opening, along with comparisons in sizes of replacement bulbs if they are available. You done good, rookie!

I learned a new joke today. How many HVAC technicians does it take to screw in a light bulb? One, if you give them $432. I just ordered my $190 replacement bulb off Amazon. Thanks for the great video!

I don't think so Tim, you've messed up here, as per our directions Do NOT tape the head on you WILL short out the ion generator and destroy the REME. the seal is ONLY for the base. Also any RGF products that you purchased online have NO warranty whatsoever. Please refer to our website and if your unit has not failed as of yet please go back and cut the aluminum tape off the head. Joe Jordan RGF technical support manager

@timshoop8128 3 года назад
Hi Joe. Appreciate the comment. If that's the case, then you should discuss that with the AC companies that are selling your products. This is exactly how they installed it. Aluminum tape around the head. I put it in exactly how it was already installed by one of your certified installers. Thanks again. PM me and I can give you their info.

@timshoop8128
@timshoop8128 3 года назад
Hey Joe, thanks for the comment. All I did was copy what the installer did when they originally installed the unit. Very reputable company that sells a ton of these in our area. I'll call them to discuss your comment, of course. I'd love to hear from other home owners that have had a reputable company install one of these in their home to see if they put tape on the head unit. This is great information and thanks for your comment. The unit I purchased online came in a factory sealed box and had all of the manufacturer info on it and even said to call the manufacturer with a phone # included, if I had issues with the installation or the bulb.

@@geebo47 this conversation just made my decision. No way I’ll be purchasing one. I got what I was after, I was skeptical to begin with that it even lives up to the claims but now it’s clearly even more complex. I’ve seen these people wiring to the eac and doing all sorts of shit wrong. What y’all should do is have “approved installers” but not doing so has allowed your product to be installed all across the country improperly and lead to customers not finding value.

First, thanks for the time and effort to produce the video. I installed my REME HALO unit a couple of years ago and just did the cell replacement. I was following your nicely-done video until encountering the sealing part. Joe is absolutely right. It isn't his fault that the contractor who did not follow instructions. The unit installation instructions are very, very clear and straightforward - even for a basic handy person like me. Only the base is taped. The head simply twists off for cell replacements.

Great video, super easy to follow and understand. My question is, did you leave your output in the wide open position? Is there anything that says it should be adjusted to a lower CFM position? I’m also going to question my hvac people on why they installed it on the intake side when there is a good place to install after the air handler. I had it installed at the same time my new Bryant heat pump was installed.
@timshoop8128
@timshoop8128 Год назад
Thanks for the feedback Todd! Yes, I put it in the wide open position. It ships that way, but the original installers had the old bulb installed wide open, which was my reference point. I found this manual that explains output levels, which might be helpful: www.manualslib.com/manual/873880/Rgf-Reme-Halo.html?page=7 I also replace the bulb every 2 years, as recommended. Yeah, seems to me you would want it after the handler. Makes more sense! Don't forget to check out my other channel if you want to learn about tech and cyber security: ru-vid.com

Yeah, a proper system you want a simple bulb in the apex of your evaporator, followed much further downstream by the Reme in the main trunk before your conditioned air spiders out to the registers. That’s how all the high end homes are done. Good HVAC technicians are like gold.

You forgot to mention the step where you set the lamp output based on the square footage of your residence. You find the set screw loosen, then close down the baffle enclosure that surrounds the lamp to block the lamp more or less tighten the set screw. If you're not blocking enough, you'll smell a prominent ozone smell (like bleach), you will experience excessive dry coughing, and dry nasals needing saline mist. It will hurt your sinuses and lungs if prolonged exposure IMHO, this all from someone who learned the hard way. We've had ours for over 8 years, you want to smell just a faint smell of ozone. You will not "Know " if it's working, you will see and feel and see it working. If you have pets, keep your filters changed and watch how the dander drops to the floor. Not so much floating in the air. If you have allergies, notice if your eyes water as much, do you sneeze as much, etc. ? You will not get sick as much, at least we haven't, no sinus infections or allergies like we has. Even with two 100+ lb German Shepherd's in the house. Some will need to adjust the bulbs baffle to open up more. Once you find the right position, write it in permanent marker on the housing so you'll have it moving forward.

My Reme halo was just installed 3 months ago and the indicator light keeps going out. I unplugged the power cord and waited a minute, plug it back in. The red light comes back on, but shortly after plugging it back in the light goes off. What could be wrong with this unit being so new? Thank you.
@timshoop8128
@timshoop8128 2 года назад
That LED light should stay on. How long after you plug it in does it go out? You may have a faulty transformer, or loose connection for the plug. Or there may be something bigger at play here. I would check those first before removing the unit. Thanks!

I have 2 of the exact same REME-HALO. I noticed your power light was red. One of mine is red and the other is green. Any idea why?
@timshoop8128
@timshoop8128 3 года назад
This is from the FAQ's on their site: My REME HALO® has a RED or GREEN light lamp indicator. What does that mean? The indicator light on the REME HALO® was changed from green to red in November of 2017. The light simply indicates that the unit is powered. If the light is on, whether the color is green OR red, your unit is receiving power.

I was wondering if air is to pass through the small slots running down the left and right side of my Halo? The air isn't coming from the seals and was wondering if you had the same air flowing through the REME HALO. Thanks for the Video.

You shouldn't feel any air coming from the unit if it is installed properly. Air passes through in the part that you cannot see inside the unit.

Hi Tim, we just installed our new bulb and questioned the red light. We thought when it was origianlly installed it was green. Other than that, when we had our unit installed 2 years ago the air had a noticible clean smell and it's now day 2 and I honestly can say I do not smell anything different. I'm wondering since you installing your bulb you can comment on how long it took to know the bulb was working properly and if you ever questioned the red light. Thank you for your time.
@timshoop8128
@timshoop8128 2 года назад
Hey! I researched it, and according to what I found, the only purpose of the LED is to show it's powered on. The LED color, according to what I found, doesn't matter. For instance, mine never had a green light even when it was originally installed by the tech a few years ago. It was always red. As for the smell, I noticed a major smell difference when the original installation happened. When I replaced it in this video, I noticed a much less smell difference, probably because the environment was already conditioned for the technology. Thanks for your inquiry. I hope this helps.

Can't hurt! The plastic housing is all that is touched during the process, so there really isn't any contact with the bulb, so hand oils don't really have a play here. But never hurts to wrap it! ;-)
