Just for a parking light this is INSANE!! There is no way it should be this difficult to get to. I have half a mind just to cut through the metal to make my own access hole for this! Rediculous they would do that.
Dang hour long job to replace a sidemarker bulb... At least for first time DIY'ers... I do appreciate the video, don't get me wrong, would've never got it done without this helpful instructional.
Replace all the bulbs while you're in there. Not something you want to do often. Also, put anti seize on those bolts before you put it all back together!
It's not that bad. I didn't remove any of the inner fender clips or bolts, just fold it out of the way, plenty of room. Perfect time to have a cordless ratchet. Check the wiring harness for heat damage on the headlights. I wouldn't replace those as you can get to them with headlight installed, but it is a spot where the harness melts by the headlight bulbs. The parts house can sell you an extension that is porcelain and won't melt, which you can also replace with headlight installed. I just preordered the wiring harness's as they are not too expensive and might save you from headlights going out while driving. Either way, the extension or the new harness which connects to the main harness on the truck. Just inspect as they may be ok. I just know of many getting hot and melting causing a bad connection. This is a good video, I just think he made it a little harder with fender wells, and props for doing it on an older one that has rust issues. Mine was nice and rust free. Either way, you will get the job done in less than an hour just by watching the video. As always check everything while apart, and check lights before you tighten everything and install the grill and cover.
I replaced these with LED 3157A. Good thing I checked if it worked before… all the work back to original. The LED bulb had to be rotated for it to work. Always check first to make sure all works
He used a wt. If your sierra has an sl or slt trim it geta more involved. I just popped the air box and shimmied my hand in to change the passenger side marker light.
I have a problem where the marker light doesn’t work but it does work with the turn signal. It won’t pass inspection because of it. What could be the problem
First, this is to replace the turn signal bulb, NOT THE SIDEMARKER. Second just reach your had back there and pull it out. I have pretty big hands and do it that way.
Next vehicle i buy is going to be one that i do not have to do all this to just put a bulb in. This is crazy! Why do they design vehicles like this? Gets worse and worse. Note! Do not ever buy a Cadillac. Or you will see why.
