Number 8: Use a 1.5" extension or no extension with the spark plug socket. Without the rachet, install the socket/extension by hand. Next attach the rachet down low. Best use a long handle rachet. Also you need a step ladder🪜 - i got a good one at Lowe's.. basically you'll be laying on the engine really loving your Chevy while removing the back passenger plug 😁

One thing not mentioned which will help a ton getting those metal boots off the plugs, is use a puller tool. You can find them at harbor freight. It grabs them just right and give you the grip to pry them off.
@samr9520
@samr9520 Год назад
I removed them by hand, no tool. There are these special gorilla grip gloves 🧤 i bought at AutoZone. They allow you to grip and pull the wire by hand. The metal boots come off easily once wire is removed from spark plugs

Apparently you should to prevent it from getting stuck next time you try to take em out. But apparently you shouldn’t because some plugs already have some coating for that and if you put anti seize on them and torque them they’ll actually be over torqued. Idk

I have a 2010 Hyundai Genesis coupe 2.0t. with no codes I have vibration at idle, and get worse with ac on. I replace : pcv, motor/transmission mount, o2 sensors, spark plugs, ignition coil. Cleaned: throttle body, maf sensor, and use fuel treatment cleaner. I believe I mentioned all I've done, but had many shops check it out and they all say it fine. So you have any clue or what I can do to fix it?

@xhoustonkingx6212
@xhoustonkingx6212 6 лет назад
Found out last night it recommends 11 ft lbs torque for spark plugs. I accidentally broke two spark plugs. Maybe I did too much torque or maybe it was because the brand Bosch. But I went back to the store bought the ac Delco platinum pre gapped at .040 and double checked them carefully with the spark plug gap tool just to make sure it was right. Didn't put any anti seize either this time. Turned the spark plugs by hand then finished tightening them with the ratchet and spark plug socket. Once it was starting to tighten almost all the way. I did a little less than 1/4" turn with the ratchet. Now my vehicle is running fine and I didn't break any spark plugs. Thanks anyway for the video. All the spark plugs were easy except the back right one on the passenger side of vehicle. Wish the engineers had to work on what they made. But they never do in any type of field that I know of -_-

@cddog1995
@cddog1995 5 лет назад
Unless you drive a Ford. I did my spark plugs and used that anti seize, ended up blowing 2 of my plugs out of the hole. I was told by my mechanic that it was the Anti Sieze that's the reason. No idea if that's true or not.
@kellyokamoto1604
@kellyokamoto1604 5 лет назад
@@cddog1995 NOT TRUE. If your engine was a 3V Triton engine. they are NOTORIOUS for blowing plugs out. It has to do with the minimal amount of threads in the head that Ford designed-poorly. Anti-seize is a MUST on Ford's. I believe your issue was NOT the application of the A-S but the INCORRECT torque values you applied to the plugs. Fordtechmakeuloco has a great video on the Triton 3V's (especially!!) problem and solutions.
