Good video! May I suggest a couple things. I have gotten in the habit of after I pull the coil but before I pull the plug, use shop air and blow out the area where the plug is. I have actually seen some filled with both water & junk. Second, I got in the habit of putting a small amount of anti-seize on the plug before install. I then reduce the torque by about 5%. That being said, some manufacturers now have a coating on the threads so it's not necessary. Lastly, & this is just personal prefferance tool wise. Check out a German company called "Hazet" they have a 5/8 spark plug socket that has a magnet inside instead of rubber. I find it easier to lift the plugs out. Have a great day & keep on wrenching!

Had a small set back with the socket getting stuck on the first plug. Oy. Then the fourth plug took forever to get in and out. Ended up using a small amount of oil to lube it to get it the plug back in without any hassle. Car runs better. Hoping the fuel mileage will increase as well. Had 81,100 on the original plugs.

Thanks for telling us the plugs are slanted. That was making me crazy trying to get the socket on there.

i have a 2014 Escape SE with a 1.6 L engine and found that the 5/8" spark plug socket DID NOT work. Another Video suggested a 16mm deep well socket which did work.

A thinner walled socket than standard 5/8" spark plug socket (rubber lined) is necessary in some cases. Mine would not fit deep enough until I ground off some of the surface and then it was simple. Removing the cowl makes this job very easy.

I'm going insane right now with my spark plug replacement. You ground off thickness of the metal part of your socket tool?

OMG! You are a life saver! I ground the wall thickness down a bit on my socket and it turned into a much easier job. It's crazy that I'd have to do this, but I'm so grateful it fixed the issue.
