Makes me appreciate my 5.0L Chevy. Two bolts and a wiring clip. I did just pick up a 2003 V8 4Runner, so thanks for the video. I think I can handle that if an when the time comes with a little bit of patience.

Great video, thank you. I just did my 2002 Sequoia and did a couple of things differently. I disconnected the fuel lines under the master cylinder; super easy to do and then the manifold can be removed from the car. And I unbolted the throttle body and pulled it slightly away from the manifold, again super easy to do (the '02 cable operated throttle body is much more complicated) no coolant lost. Not a fun job... but really not that hard either. Just time consuming.

I have an 07 Tundra 5.7, starter quit at 270K> I removed heat shields, bolts from Tranny coolers tubes and starter mounting bolts. Then, lowered and turned to access solenoid bolts. Separated starter from solenoid before removing.. Dropped started down and aft by the Tranny oil cooler tubes. Installed in reverse. Practice taking off/on solenoid before installing. Need to go by feel, not much room to work. Worked great.

I found that instead of prying plastic cap to remove nut with wrench I could just flip cap and use 12mm socket. I also broke tab on plug to starter so used a piece of wire to secure. Also, don’t forget to return core!

Is there a possibility that the starter could be making a grinding noise when starting it up? The grinding noise only lasts for a minute. I have a 2003 Sequoia SR5.

Started changing the starter on my 03 Sequoia. Wasn't too bad pretty straight forward until i got to the bolt holding the starter on the drivers side. It's sitting in my garage because I'm frustrated removing that one bolt. Anyone have any tips tricks or suggestions? Much appreciated

I am assuming my starter is toast on my ‘04 Sequoia. Started with battery. Not that. Either way turn key and you here one single “kachunk”…and nothing.

Very informative video, although it's way beyond my mechanical skills "rocket science," I heard that being enclosed they're supposed to last longer than on a regular car because they're not taking a street beating. Still, I like to see what's underneath everything!
