How to replace stock halogen bulbs without removing front bumper 2013-2016 ford fusion! 

Thanks guys! You saved me tons of time. I change the first bulb by removing the bumper and couldn’t get over how dumbfounded I felt with Ford’s engineering.

Please keep this video on forever! I just referred to it once again (nearly 2 years since I changed the bulbs) and it helped once again. I had the toughest time trying to turn the Driver's side bulb to loosen it before pulling it out from behind. So, instead of forcing the issue further, I first checked with your video and you confirmed that the bulb needed to be pull downwards to loosen it. That helped me a lot and avoided me breaking anything (ie. turning it the wrong way possibly). Once I knew that you confirmed the correct turning direction, I used a long screwdriver to jiggle/wiggle the bulb (it was so stuck). I finally got it loose and replaced it. I replaced both sides with new bulbs (and kept the 1 working bulb as a backup when needed in the future). This video is better than the value of Gold! Thanks again for mentioning the small but important details in the video which I believe will help others along the way.

Nice video but a lot of explaining but not actually doing. A step by step of the disassemble and replacing would have been nice

Thank you so much! I was getting frustrated with the clips on the bumper and took your advice that all that extra work did not need to be done. I managed to get my hand in each area and took some time and effort to fiddle around with the bulb (counterclockwise to get it out). But after some time, patience and determination - I was successful. I had a much easier time on the passenger side bulb replacement in comparison to the driver side. Thank you very much for showing the size of your hand in the video - that was the deal breaker. Once I saw your hand was the same size as my hand, I decided to go for it! Great video - appreciate all the tips!

Yep, just did mine today. Took all but 30 minutes this way to replace them. I did both the running lights and the headlights at the same time. I bought my Fusion used, and when I pulled out the passenger side bulb it just popped out. It was never seated properly in the socket. That is one thing that you really need to make sure is that you properly seat the bulb in the socket, or the light just will not produce properly and looks horrible! Thanks for the great tip here on changing the bulbs the easy way! :D

Awesome! Like everyone here or most, I was dumbfounded at having to remove my 2016 fusion's bumper and it does not have fog lights, I was like "Seriously? Even though my car do not have fog lights, I still have to remove the bumper?" And I told my friend, who is a mechanic for a Ford dealer up in Salt Lake City, Ut. "Get rid of it" is the first thing he said lol. So I decided not to ask him if he's got any ideas. Dude might persuade me to actually getting rid of the car (and is really good at persuading people because of the nature of his work being an experienced auto mechanic and I know because I worked with him for a year), but right now, I can't really afford a newer car... So glad to have found this video and thanks for the information!

Why all of these videos of what to remove but not how to get the bulbs out??? Although, I do appreciate y'all giving us the first steps. I've been working on this for hours and can't get the high and low beam bulbs out...

It certainly worked with my small hands on my 2016 Ford Fusion Hybrid SE. I was able to wriggle my hands in with the bracket removed, unscrew and replaced the passenger side low-beam headlights. Just take a minute or two to understand his video. Be careful in removing the zinc clips holding the two 10 MM bolts for the bracket. The plastic anchors holding these clips are brittle and may break. I broke one unfortunately but not a big deal. Thank you for taking time to do this video. It saved me time and money. With that said, whoever engineered this part needs to be tarred and feathered for making a headlight change soo complicated.

What's awesome is that realistically, you don't need the Torx bit if you have the right size flathead screwdriver. But yeah, what a nightmare of a design. I'm just gonna do all my bulbs at once to save the headache of having to do it more than once. Edit: Did my first bulb this morning, and after figuring out the bracket it really wasn't that hard. Took a few minutes to get the new bulb lined up and latched in, and the rubber gasket is a little hard to get back on, but everything lines up super easy.

Thank you so much for posting this! It took me an hour because of my larger hands but yes, it can be done without removing the bumper. My suggestion is to note the location of the bulbs before twisting to remove and where the release position is so you know the correct position to reinstall.

I got the old one out, I would have bet it was impossible until I saw this video. I had two issues, 1) I couldnt get the leverage on the thing to turn it using just my one hand, and 2) I didnt have a plyers like the one in the video, so last try before I went to buy the plyers, I stuck a screwdriver in there and pressed down on one side and pulled up the other with my fingers, and out it came, but then I had trouble pulling it straight out of the housing, but I finally found the right angle and its out. I havent put the new one back in yet, but I dont anticipate any problems, If I have trouble Ill add to this post. Thanks for this video

On the 2017- refresh fusions, you no longer have to do any of this since the bulb cover is positioned at an upward angle. I guess ford finally got the memo.

Thanks so much folks. However, no need to mention about the "no fan", leading me to think there is no space in back of bulb. There looks to be plenty of space for any LED with heatsink.. I made the mistake of getting "fog" H11 with the exact fit back connector. However, the bulb on that is too big to fit through. Again, just a minor nit; this was very, very helpful.

Does this procedure work on 2019 SE Hybrid with Halogen bulbs. Light is pretty dim and I want the whitest light I can get are LED's possible repalcements for the existing halogen?

Can you do a video of what your car looks like with the bulbs you installed from the link you provided? Any issues with over heating or other problems at all? These LED bulbs are safe for the projector lens?

Random question, do you have pics of your front end? I was debating doing a big mouth plasti dip job that looks like yours. Mines also silver so it would help me decide if I want to go through with it.

As someone that looked up this video an then looked on Mitchell pro. The best and correct way is the remove the whole front face. Or the front bumper as some call it. I don’t get why ford make you lose brain cell as you need to remove the whole headlamp by removing a front face. I wish they just made it where you could remove the head lamp by itself or make a easier way. Because Mitchell gives you about 1.4 hours for one bulb so for example I replaced two so the over all cost for the customers was 300 dollars for two front bulbs with labor compared to most other cars where it’s rated as a 0.2 hours an only costs 60 bucks for bulb and labor

I just changed my 16 fusion and I got big hands so I ended up taking the entire bumper out but it’s such a hassle because u gotta deal with a lot of bolts to remove and those bumper plugs smh imma try this n see how it goes

aight got the torque to get lamp out by using my finger all the way up on the wires. Any wisdom for getting torque to twist back clockwise and get a proper seal/seat? I know it’s been years but maybe you remember ? Thanks Gabriel.

This job took me 10 minutes and you dont need to remove anything. If you have huge hands get someone to do it but my hands are normal for a 5' 11" man and it was not hard at all.

Tried this but the headlight only moved out maybe half an inch. Couldn't really get my hands in to get the bulb out and couldn't get the pliers in still because of the angle. Didn't work for me

U can really take the rubber covering off without taking all those parts a loose. Take the bulb out and replace it with a new one

What specific auxbeam model number did you get? There is several h11 auxbeams.

That was a pain in the ass. I have 2016 SE model. Don't need torx bits if you don't have them. Bolts are slotted for flatheads. I had a plastic pop rivet on the inside corner of my headlight assembly I had to remove. If you said it in the vid I missed it.

That small bulb is the low beam? It looks like a larger bulb from the outside. I am preparing to try this...

I couldn't get my bulb out. I can get my fingers in there but have no idea what the assembly looks or feels like to remove the bulb so now I'll have to drop the bumper.

When replacing the lights on the drivers side, you said to pinch something and pull up, and there should be a 10mm bolt there? Idk what to pull up and cant find that 3rd 10mm🤦‍♂️. Ive done everything else up to that point
