hey, man i really appreciate this video. my '09 accent is slightly different in that i had to move the power steering hose out of the way, but the main part was just like you've detailed here. i'm far from being a mechanic, but with this guide i was able to do this repair all by myself and it means a lot to me. hell, you may have easily saved me a couple hundred bucks at the dealer or a shop. i couldn't really put mine on jacks bc of the terrain it was on, so i just tucked away some hoses and removed both fans up front. doing that gave me enough space to take my old alternator out from up top. anyways thanks again, God bless.
I used your video to do this job a year or two ago and since my "new" alternator was bad and I ended up putting in a junkyard one that one now failed also so I just used your video again a 2nd time to refresh my memory. Went about as well as last time so thanks again :D
Mission successful! Thank you. I used this tutorial for my '09 Hyundai accent. The only thing I did different was I unplugged the cables before unscrewing the long bolt. My alternator wasn't as stuck as yours and I was afraid that the alternator was going to drop and put tension on the cables.
You know you can just pull out the fan and do everything from the top right? No need for jacking car, removing oil filter, topping it off etc etc... really good explaining of the process tho
I really appreciate you for this video it took me 25 mins and my alternator was off for this being my first time!!! This has been a crazy week for me and this dang car first the breaks and I watched a RU-vid video for it and got them changed and then the battery went out then the alternator…
excellent video. I just changed the alternator twice using your video. The hyundai accent still won't keep a charge. 2 New Alternator, New Battery and new starter and still no charge. Was driving it yesterday and the dash lights started to dim and all the warning lights popped up. Once i got home the brand new battery was dead after only 20 minutes of driving. This is an on going issue and I can't figure out why the battery is dying while driving.
If the alternator is not charging at or around 14 volts , then either the alternator is bad or there is a wire issue between it and the battery. Also check the grounds, check all connections. If the alternator checks out good , the wire checks out , the multimeter or scan tool should show plus or minus 14 volts with the car running. Hope this helps.
Great Video! I’m in middle of same job on same year / make. I had exact same issue with lower bolt(pivot). I remember those days working outside! Sucked. Anyways Thank You!
Gave u a sub for this, much cleared understanding compared to other videos. Gotta do this job soon too, might take a video as well and give some credit your way if I do!
When trying to pry the alternator off the bracket, you could use an extension and a hammer and a socket big enough to go around the steel sleeve. Tap that alternator ear against the machined face of the bracket mounted on the engine. That will make the steel sleeve work it's way out enough for the alternator to slide off.
Hello this video is really informative for how to change the alternator by him self so i just have one question i have hyundai accent 2010 and yesterday it was stop while i driving and then i notice battery sign still remain on the dashboard when i do jump start so it mean battery is not getting charge from alternator so i check all fuses they all are good is there any other problem then alternator i mean wiring or other relay
And one more thing can please tell me how to check alternator is working or not without volt meter can we check with the circuit light tester and if we can then please explain me how thank you
If you do not have a multimeter or a battery charger with a volt readout , about the only other option is to remove the alternator and take to autozone to be tested. I would get a cheap multimeter from harbor freight or walmart , they have some for $5. Hope this helps.
this happned to me too. I changed alternator twice already, brand new battery and starter. The car still is dying while driving and battery is not being charged by the alternator. I can not figure out the problem.
Thank you very much for this really helpful, I got stuck in the mad my car doesn't want to start is that because of the alternator got damaged or something? Do I need to change it ?
If the alternator is locked up , then yes it will not turn over. I have had this happen twice. It is possible if it is not working that it drained the battery to the point it wont crank. You could have the battery charged at autozone or somewhere and check. You could also take them your alternator if it is not locked up and have it tested. Thanks for the feedback.
Dude dude I had it the same sway sitting there you never showed me how you wiggled it out of there how do you wiggle it out of there I need to see what you would live in there
my sons car would just turn off while driving when he turned the turn signals on and would die. Got the battery checked and it was bad. But we still have the check battery light on. Possibly alternator?
Sounds like it may be the alternator. If you can get a multimeter and set it to volts and check it this will confirm. With the car running you should be getting around 14 volts. Thanks for the feedback
So all my lights still turn on when i turn the key but it doesnt start so i gave it a jump and it was able to start, how can i tell if its the alternator?
If it runs once jumped then you're alternator is fine. Most likely the battery is bad , there's a slow drain, or possible connection cable issues. It's common for there to be enough juice to power up the lights on the panel etc but not enough for starting the car. Hope you get this solved and thank you for watching.
@@s33therfan thank you, How can I tell also if my slave cylinder is bad? Just got a new clutch put in and i lose pressure on the clutch pad still even now
