Thank you, I was able to silence that annoying noice until I can get the new battery. I live alone and my family lives far , so I have to rely on DIY videos to get things done around my house, but thanks to God I am not so silly when it comes to fixing stuff. And also thanks to videos like yours to safe the day. Thank you and happy holidays.
Oh my god Thank you!!! Stupid beeping. I couldn't figure out what it was. I thought it was my car nope not that it wasn't in the garage. I looked at everything But the garage door opener! Thanks for the tip on stopping the beeping noise until I can get a new battery.
I followed the instructions in your video and the beeping stopped, but now my garage door won't open. When I try to open my garage door, it makes a noise like it is trying to open, but it doesn't move. All I did is unplug the unit, remove the old battery, put the new battery in, and re-plug in the unit. I have tried putting the old battery in and having no battery in, but I get the same results. Do you have any idea what might be going on?
My door opener started beeping when I got home tonight. The beep was so similar to the beep my car makes when I lock the doors that I spent an hour trying to figure out what was wrong with my car. I finally realized it was the battery in the opener.... modern technology. Geez
I know it's an older video and you had good information in there maybe you'll have some for me. I have the exact same black and red pad on the wall and I do not have any tones or anything of that nature but every time I go in the garage it looks like it's flashing and I have to put the time back in are you having trouble with your wall mount keeping accurate time instead of just flashing
Saved myself some money by not replacing the battery every couple of years. Never had an issue with having to get in my garage while the power was out. I guess it helps to have a backup battery if you do have that problem often.
Thank you for keeping your video so simple. Question for you, are the prongs on the battery you used different sizes? I've ordered multiple batteries and still haven't received one with different-sized prongs, so I haven't been able to replace my battery.
Hmmm. Yes the 4228 model should have the bigger red prong. Not sure why they would not have that. This one seems to fit that description: amzn.to/3aAzrw5
Fix it great video, I have a problem and I'm hoping you can help me. I have the same garage door I noticed today that the lights are turning on on their own and turning off, if I turn them off using the unit inside they still turn on. Do you know what could be the cause of it? I will appreciate the help. Thanks James
Just to make sure, it's not just the motion sensor is it? Mine kick on and off when they sense motion in the area. Also, you could try unplugging it for a minute or so and plugging it back in to reset it.
Fix it Flip, thank you for this video. We just changed our back up battery in the overhead unit. However, when we hit the garage door button on the wall unit, the garage will not close all the way down. It seems to stop halfway down. This did not happen before the battery change. Next, I will try the remote garage door opener. Do you know if we are supposed to “reset” anything after the battery change? Any thoughts would be appreciated. We are trying to get this thing working to get both cars back in the garage asap. Thank you! From So Cal, USA! 😊
@@kalberm9094, hi there...actually, no we never figured out how to reset the darn thing. We tried but no success. I think it’s easy tho. We ended up having to call a garage door guy out (we did have a home warranty tho which kinda helped). When that guy came out, he told me how to reset it, & I don’t know why I didn’t take notes. Good luck to you tho, I recall mine had a purple & a black button.
What is the red box with the light on the very beginning of the video ? My light on the red box went off and the garage door and cannot open the garage door. How to fix that ? Thanks
That is the wall unit that controls the garage door opener. It is hardwired to the main housing assembly hanging from the ceiling. If the display is off, it sounds like it is not getting power from the main unit, or the main unit is not plugged in.
Just bought a house with this garage door opener in it. I've been scratching my head on what went in this empty space for about a year now. Looks like the guy took the battery out and never replaced it. 😆. QUESTION: the light does not turn on in my garage door opener even after replacing bulbs....is not having a battery here the reason? Thanks for posting this video!!
The battery should not effect the light coming on. The battery is really only for when the power is out and you need to get the door open. The light should come on with motion.
I scheduled to have new car in to check why it keep beeping and just three day till appointment time I walk into the garage and still hear the beep but the car was not there. Holy molly I was like WtF and finally figured out it was the stupid garage opener. Jesus it had me all mess up.
@@fixitFlip ahh we live in Florida so not cold related :( and the battery was installed 2017 for more context. seems short lived but idk.. my first time every changing one of these
@@JtcFilms Hmm...now that does seem a little short lived to me for being down in Florida. Maybe defective battery? Hope you're staying safe right now down there.
@@fixitFlip dude... this thing has a mind of it's own, up and down all by itself... even after I took the battery out... think I might be in warranty still with craftsman?
Found this: You want to permanently stop the beeping without replacing the backup battery, follow these steps. Unplug the opener, disconnect the battery, and plug the opener back in. You will no longer hear the beeping sound.
Well, you don't HAVE to replace it. But then you will just not have backup battery power. As long as the power stays on, she won't have any problems. It is only needed if the power goes out.
