My HP Stream has a slightly different base, I didn't have the four round rubber stoppers covering the screws, mine has two long rubber strips that needed removing to expose the screws. I was going to ditch the laptop and buy a new one until I saw your video showing how to replace the battery - such a simple routine - even for a numpty like me! Thanks again. 😊
Thank you so much for your video. My hp stream wouldn't charge when plugged in, the power light just blinked continuously. Someone said to take the battery out and wait a few minutes and put it back in. Now my laptop is charging again, and no more blinking light. You saved me $300, I was almost ready to buy a new stream.

Thanks for this. The battery in mine was swelling up like a balloon and distorting the laptop. Had to pull it out before it broke something but couldn't figure out how to get into the case. Your video was a big help. Laptop runs fine off power supply now, though it does that extra cmos warning screen on startup.
Holy Cow this was complicated! I have/had(it took a dump and I had to open it up to try.. something) a nice Acer gaming laptop and I had to do this exact thing. Unscrew the screws, take off the shell, and this is just a little streaming computer. I bought this computer as a backup and now it needs a back up. I'm just trying the 'unplug the battery, plug it back in' trick.

I was getting a request for a TPM configuration change after replacing the battery. It prompted me to press F1 and nothing was happening. I noticed the cap lock light was not working so I reinstalled my cables and now it works perfectly! It was close to being dumped into the garbage can.

After replacing the battery on my stream I'm getting a request for a configuration change. It wants me to press F1 to (accept) to clear the TPM. I press F! and nothing is happening?

remind me to get an acer netbook next time.. the new battery pops right in. no screws. no guitar pick. UPDATE; i have been dreading doing this and maybe you are too. TRY THIS it worked for me. i too had zero battery and it would only work on charger power. HOWEVER, first, shut down your hewitt packer netbook stream. second unplug the charger. third hold down the power button for 15 seconds. fourth, plug the charger back in and press the power button. fifth, wait about 20 seconds for the computer to go thru a reset. sixth, start grinning because your battery is charging again.

Good video thanks. But really you should have tested if the new battery was charging. Because the issue could have been the charging circuit not working, not the battery. As you didn't and you used a new charged battery we don't know for sure what was the problem. Could you reply in the comments that eventually the battery did charge? Many thanks
Ahh I thought it’d be easier but this is not for the faint of heart I feel 😩 looks complicated and scary😅 I’m worried I’d start the process and mess something up and then break my laptop completely 😢
You know if you keep the laptop closed when you try to unsnap the back from the clips it will pop right off. instead of fighting with it for 5 minutes.
When Hp caps blinks it indicates that there is usually something wrong with either your Ram/Graphics card. Usually it is either the Ram is bad or not sitting properly in its slot, try this before requesting for new Ram

I think that if HP wanted you to replace the battery they would have sent along a guitar pick with the comp...I have the same comp and there is no way, Id do what he is doing, Id never get it back together lol
I have the exact same computer with the exact same problem, and I have plenty guitar picks. So, I just ordered a new battery and waiting to do the very same replacement
Unfortunately, it is built into the motherboard. I bought a HP Stream 14 for super cheap ($25) and wanted to replace the hard drive since the damn thing only came with 32 GB for storage. After installing a fresh Windows 10, I was left with only 8 GB of free space. You can take out the wifi card and put in a special SSD into it, or you can just put a SD card into the reader and use that for extra storage. USB wifi dongles are inexpensive, so this may be the best way to go.
I’m frustrated with HP Stream because not only does it block me from downloading safe software and programs that I desire to place on the computer, now after only two weeks after my purchase, the battery is slowly being drained and I’m clueless as to why (all is plugged in/up). I don’t have the time to do all that this guy has done nor do I feel comfortable dismantling the computer like so. And on top of all this, I think I threw away the receipt! Never again will I purchase HP Stream (my last computer was HP and I was very satisfied with it but I have no idea what this junk is)!! Very frustrated!! 😠
A lot of factors can affect the life of a battery. True, Streams seem to have issues when it comes to batteries right out of the box, but actions can be taken to ensure that the battery lasts longer. Factors like temperature (too hot, too cold) can harm a battery. Even something like leaving it plugged in all the time can change your battery's cycle of charge and discharge. Considering it's years since you posted this, I'm guessing it's no longer important, but if you'd like to keep your laptop's battery in good shape for any future model you have, you can look up helpful methods on your favorite search engine.
