Thank you! Working on 2007 G500, this was what I was looking for to get the steering column out. That last wire. Service manual did not show the same clockspring set up.

Perfect thank you. Mine didn't quite lay flat, but a little massaging and it popped into place.

Thank You. 2011 ML350: In my case, the same noise came from the steering angle sensor and not from the clockspring; I could see the broken plastic pieces coming out of the angle sensor. Also, the angle shows me 0 deg on the scanner.

Hi Brian, do you know if this ML350 had a heated steering wheel? Thanks.

Instead of disconnecting battery terminal under seat, can you pull the airbag fuse? I think the fuse is by rear hatch?

I have ML 350 2008 model. I got the ESP light on suddenly. I sent for computer scanning and he told me that I have to change the steering angle sensor. How can I be sure that it’s not other fault like break sensor or ABS sensor please ? It’s very expensive to buy angle sensor

Hey Brian. Question. Is it possible to change the cruise control stalk? as that is the only part that needs replacing. Thank you in advance :)
@HowtoAutomotive
@HowtoAutomotive 6 лет назад
Neeral Patel Yes once you get this all off you can change the cruise control. It’s just a couple more screws

Why did you replace the clock spring?
@HowtoAutomotive
@HowtoAutomotive 2 года назад
Due to the airbag light malfunction. Plus the steering wheel control stopwatch such as the horn

The steering wheel bolt does not loosen.
@davidjacobs8558
@davidjacobs8558 Год назад
It is rather difficult. I found it almost impossible to put any force on the bolt with a breaker bar while holding onto the steeing wheel. I found puting a aluminum cane (walking stick, that is) with a crook to be a good tool to use. thread the hook end of cane in and out of steeing wheel spokes, and use that along with the breaker bar. It came loose rather easily after that.
@zapo4867
@zapo4867 Год назад
@@davidjacobs8558 are you holding the cane in your hand while lose ong with breaker bar or are you using the cane to bear the steering wheel from moving
@davidjacobs8558
@davidjacobs8558 Год назад
@@zapo4867 breaker bar on my left hand, cane on the right hand, and bring the two together. with just the breaker bar on the bolt, and holding on to the steering wheel with your hand, it feels impossible to loosen the bolt. but if you use a cane on the steering wheel, it is rather surprisingly effortless to loosen the bolt. I'm slightly built, with not much of arm strength. yet I could do it easily with the lever action of the cane. I don't think having another person hanging on to the steering wheel for their dear life would've been any easier. for some reason, the steering wheel did not lock itself, when I turned off the engine. I'm not sure if that is how GL450 was designed, or my car's steering lock function is broken. so I could not use that to stop steering wheel from rotating.
