Brilliant, thank you. I’ve been scratching my head for weeks on where to load the bloody string. 😆👍

Thank you, I just purchased one for my lawn. I'm a 67 yr old woman that continues to mow and edge my lawn. Your video answered my question. How do you put a string on this 45? Well, your video answered my question. And other RU-vidrs did not add this feature in their video. So a big thank you!!!

Amazed at how easy it was to convert the blades to line! I initially bought this tiny trimmer with plastic blades because I had never used a brush cutter before and was intimidated by the big model. I now have the full size battery operated line trimmer and am hoping to get the small polycut working for me as well :)

The idea for the string instead of the blades is real good. No blades available near me and they’re kind of expensive for what they are. This should work great. Thanks!

I have bought one and find it ideal for a small garden.I am biased as I always buy Stihl,but for what I need it is excellent.

I tried the water trick too. Doesn't make a bit of difference. I also have had little luck with the standard heard. The line breaks constantly. Going to try a different type of line and see how that works. My last resort. Not a fan of the STIHL trimmer.

Hi Craig, sorry to hear that. If you are finding that the line is constantly breaking, it may be worth looking into a grass trimmer that can take a thicker line or a duro-cut mowing head. You can find out more about which type of line is best in which situations, on our website here www.stihl.co.uk/en/garden-ideas-and-advice/power-tool-maintenance/grass-trimmer-tips/replacing-trimmer-line#choosing-trimmer-line

Could somebody tell me which performs better, the blades or the line? I currently use line on my FSA 57. Are the blades just more convenient or are they better in some way? Thanks!
@STIHLGB
@STIHLGB 10 дней назад
Thanks for your question. They are both designed for trimming grass so in terms of peformance, they are comparable, however, the Polycut blades offer slightly longer working times compared to mowing line. The blades are a bit simpler to use in that you don't have to rewind the spool with the mowing line - they can just be easily replaced in seconds. Thanks, STIHL GB

@@STIHLGB thank you for the info. When my current spool ends I might consider the polycut blades. Thanks again!

I have the FSA 45. The manual says the polycut 2-2 head can also be swapped with the autocut 2-2 head with bump feed with 1.6mm line, but the stihl website says this is only compatible with FSA 57 and 52. Can I use this head for the FSA 45?
@STIHLGB
@STIHLGB 17 дней назад
Hi, thanks for your comment. The AutoCut 2-2 isn't a recommended cutting attachment for the FSA 45. Can I ask where you saw in the manual that it can be used with it? We can't find any reference to the AutoCut in the instruction manual for the FSA 45. You can fit line pieces to the PolyCut 2-2 head if you do want to use mowing line though. Thanks, STIHL GB

@@militarymansfield thanks for your message, but this doesn't match the instruction manual we have anywhere. Are you based in Great Britain? Is it an English language instruction manual that you have? Thanks, STIHL GB
@militarymansfield
@militarymansfield 17 дней назад
@STIHLGB yes I'm in the UK and it is an English instruction manual. I an literally holding it in my hand. Document number 0458-718-0121-A. Page 24, section 20. I've also downloaded a copy of the same manual. If you have an email I can send it to you

@@militarymansfield thank you for confirming this. We've actually been investigating with our Product team in Germany about this, as the current version of the instruction manual (which can be found here: www.stihl.co.uk/en/support-and-contacts/instruction-manuals) doesn't include mention of the AutoCut but we understand that previous versions of the manual advise that you can fit an AutoCut. The Product team have now confirmed that whilst you can physically fit an AutoCut 2-2 to the FSA 45 and it will work, it is no longer recommended to be used with the FSA 45 as the machine itself won't stand up to the head being bumped on the ground, which is how you are supposed to feed the mowing line out on the AutoCut head. I'm sorry for any confusion, but hopefully that is now clear. Please let us know if you need any other information. Thanks, STIHL GB

The 3-2 looks like the ticket (Does anyone use that term anymore) If I can find one in the USA STIHL has a policy that you can't buy an accessory and have it shipped to you're home You can order your item and drive and pick it up at your local dealer

Hi Craig, thank you for your comment. A good trick to make your blades less brittle is to soak them in water overnight. It will make them more supple and help them to last longer. Many thanks, STIHL GB

How about the FSA 86 R ?
@STIHLGB
@STIHLGB 2 месяца назад
Thanks for your comment. The FSA 86 R comes fitted with an AutoCut C 6-2 mowing head as standard. This video shows you how to replace the mowing line on that particular head: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--oJvXv7fnDI.html Thanks, STIHL GB

Do they make an auto feed head for this model? Blades always breaking
@STIHLGB
@STIHLGB 2 года назад
Hi, thanks for your comment. Which model of grass trimmer do you have? If it's the FSA 45, it comes with the PolyCut 2-2 mowing head as standard and I'm afraid it can't be changed to an AutoCut head, but you can insert lengths of mowing line into the head instead of the plastic blades and there are instructions for how to do that in the video above. Either way, if you find that the plastic blades or mowing line are breaking, you can soak them in water overnight before you use them and that will make them less brittle and prone to breakage. Thanks very much, STIHL GB

Hi there, thanks for the comment - the 3-2 polycut trimmer head fits the new FSA 57. The head for the FSA 56 is the AutoCut 2-2. Thanks very much, STIHL GB

The aftermarket blades are not great. They tend to shatter easily. The line option is much better for long haul.
@STIHLGB
@STIHLGB 2 года назад
Thanks for your comment. You can soak the polycut blades in water for 24 hours before use, which does make them more supple and less prone to breakage in the same that it does for trimmer line too. Thanks, STIHL GB
