Seriously. I messed up adding a stupid doggy door and now the screen is messed up. I bought the mesh and am now going to work on fixing it. Super grateful for these videos.
Thank you so much for this video. My son brought his German Shepherd to visit me and she ran right through my patio screen because she was an excited puppy.
So one tip that a door guy told me about that’s helpful is use tea light wax on the track every once a while to keep it running smoothly. Try it it really works.
I'm watching this video trying to repair my screen door and I go "wow this guys voice is familiar". By any chance do you have a guitar related channel?
Great video! Thanks so much. Exactly what I needed. Love it when real people make repairs on their homes rather than demos from companies trying to sell their products.
Thanks for sharing how to do this. We did ours today successfully with pet resistant mesh.

Hahaha I love how she just went through as you were talking 😂🐶 thanks for sharing this, mine just created a doggy door themselves as well. Need to fix it today
I’m a kid, and I made my dad proud all thanks to this video. Even though you couldn’t do it as a kid I wanted to let you know I did. You know, my generation isn’t that bad once you find the kids that know what bathroom to use and don’t cry when someone calls them a man but they are really a women with a penis.
Found this video yesterday. Thank you so much for showing us how to do it. My brother and I replaced my broken screen door, followed your steps and it looks like new. Thanks again.
Good video but not nearly that easy...the amount of screen I went through and time involved...$75/hr may not be that bad. Full disclosure, I have 5 screen doors on my porch which needed new screen and every one did not have tight screen when done.
This is excellent thank you for sharing! May I suggest a dog screen gate for your dog? It will allow the dog to go in and out through a hole in the screen, I’m doing this with my new puppy now
Thanks, I replaced my screen after watching this. I found cutting the cord at each corner made it easier to get the corners tucked in tightly. I got it done!! 👍🏼 appreciate your help
Thanks. Just did the job following your instructions. I'll give myself a 9.2. Little bit of looseness at the bottom section (don't be afraid to pull snugly)..we'll see if the wife notices. Haha...
Ya know it's funny. I've dabbled in so much shit over the 29 years of my life. Everything from small 2 stroke engines on lawmowers, to big old diesel Mac trucks with dual shifters. Worked for a wastewater plant as a field operator and lab technician. Fixed super high end TVs like LG OLEDs, atmos soundbars, gaming consoles, and computers. I've helped build, plumb, and paint entire houses, and did the lawn care. Yet here I am in 2021 looking at 4 year old videos on how to replace a screen on a screen door, and how to reset my garage door opener when it malfunctions. 🤣 always learning I guess. Thanks for the video man.
I hear you🤣 I felt embarrassed when I ruined my new screen trying to follow the manufacturer's instructions, right in front of my wife😄. I'm an avid DIY'er rebuilding car engines and everything else, and a software engineer by profession. But the screen door mesh install got me. 😂
Fantastic, just what I needed! I followed the manufacturer's complicated instructions for the screen I bought and ruined it😬. Your demo makes sense and is just intuitive. Thanks! 😀. My cat ruined the screen while hunting down a fly on the screen😆.
Nice Video, I know this as old vid, but my master (my dog lol) just ripped apart my screen door trying to get into the house due to fireworks. Whe have a rot iron door the screen and glass sliding doors. He's about 80-90 lb bull mastiff. He's not tall, but long. Standing on 2 paws he's about 4ft in height. Was worried he would break the glass door. Had his head stuck in the rot Iron door trying to get in the house. Thanks for the vid. Especially watching this having the same type of family member doing what they do, can't blame em. Had hundreds of dollars spent on repairs, but at the end of the day it's all worth it. My dog "Canelo" is the most loyal dog I've had. Owning various breeds, by far. CANELO is my families keeper. Love you Buddy/Canelo. Thanks for the content sir. Very useful!
just ordered some mesh and spline, I walked through my patio door, it was a little torn , but what a surprise for me, look forward to learning this replacement, cheers
Just what I needed so I can do the same to my door today! My dog has a very convenient self-made doggie door and now it will get taken care of...fingers crossed!
If you sit it on a couple of 2x4s you can press down on the frame while you lock it in and when you release the downward pressure it will automatically tighten the screen with no need to pull...
Very, very interesting as I am far from a home handy- man - which I really regret. In near future will need to put into practice what I have just learnt. Hope it is as simple as the video relayed. Thank you all very much.
I'm gonna comment on a 6 year old video so future DIY'ers have an easier time. 1.Put a small sticker on the bottom area of the screen so the dog can visually see the screen door is closed. 2. When you install the screen door, simply put the bottom rollers in first, Since they're spring loaded, just push down on the door and the top can pop into place. Voila. No bending down and fooling with the bottom rollers. 3. It may be easier on some doors(or for some people) to just cut the cord at the corners. It doesn't affect the performance of the screen and may be a little easier to install. Good video. Thanks.
Animals do what animals do, and you can't "train" them not to do what they do, especially when you tempt them with nothing but a crappy piece of screen separating them from the great outdoors. So it's up to the human to create a screen door that they cannot damage. My advice is to Invest in WAY heavier screen or aluminum/metal covering with holes for just the bottom of the screen. But to be honest, full length screens and animals are not a good combination.
Thanks, this was very helpful. It made me realize that my screen was in good shape and I just needed to reseat the gasket in one area without having it pop out elsewhere. Using the info in your video and the tool provided with my screen kit, I was able to do so.
I love how your cute dog is showing off his handy work=) I'm replacing my screen today. My 3 girls (a Husky, a GSD and a Pitbull/lab) are pretty zen in my home but hunters on our property of 12 acres. They have never touched the screens but the other night I guess a coyote came much too close to the house and out through the screen they ran. Ugh!
my dog is a she, but she is half husky and half cocker spaniel. she is a rascal. we have coyotes near here too. when they howl she goes nuts and starts howling too.
I just want to say thank you so much. I don’t think you understand how helpful this was. My screen door ripped and my room became infested with mice, but today I decided to walk to the store, buy some items with my own money, and then fix my door that mice chewed through. I made my dad proud all thanks to you! Thank you so much!
Thanks for your video which helped reinforce my thinking about what I needed to do. Extra pair of hands, my spouse’s, helped with getting correct alignment and tension. Old spline worked well this time.
