Thanks for this video. I had the oil level problem recently and just thought that I maybe overfilled it. Never considered the gas smell. This time I went out to go fishing and my oil light stayed on so I shut the engine off and checked the dipstick and it’s now milky like it has water in it. The boat has only been run once since last oil change and never had signs of overheating.
Great Video, thank you! My 2017 VF115 overheated shortly after leaving dock. Seemed like the spitter was weak but no obvious obstruction. When overheated, I noticed oil psi read 0. When I pulled back into dock and hooked up water hose to flush, there was no overheating and PSI was normal. What do ya think--impeller?
Same motor, the last few times when leaving, the motor will chug/sputter for about 5-10 minutes before it would run smooth. Once the motor was warm, no issues. Only does it when I first start it after many hours/overnight of sitting. I would warm up the motor at idle for 5-10 min before leaving. Any thoughts on what may be causing it?
Very nice video,i have a problem my 115 Yamaha engine is no good running sometimes fast after a few minutes running can slow they cannot take off or it's hard to take off.what is that sir,
It causes the engine to run cooler dumping more fuel that washes by the piston rings and into the crankcase. Had this exact issue on my 2000 F115. Thermostat fixed it for a couple years until an injector stuck open causing the same issue again but with poor running that time. The extra fuel fouled the plug so it was trying to run on 3 cylinders.
EXCELLENT VIDEO. MY Yamaha F115TLR is not pulling water with "Ear Muffs" placed over intake. No stream from water pump check-vent when motor is running. Do I need to replace the impeller, or could there be a problem with the thermostat? Thank you...
I was talking about that to my yamaha dealer on my new 70 outboard, he told me to use conventional oil. We're in the pacific northwest where the water is too cold to use synthetic oil. So the motor doesn't get to proper temp and it "makes oil" by sucking in fuel.. It's a thing up here. I had that happen in a yam 90 I was running synthetic, the oil got super high and smelled like fuel.
