Really good video helped to replace mine today. Only problem I had was not making sure the two cups on each end of the strut were exactly at 180 degrees to each other. Just make sure they are and you´ll have no problem.
@@a.z.3214 Exactly my question, after i was removing the first side.... the damper does not come out of this hole. I normally would need to compress that thing, but HOW?
How on earth did you get the spring out from the cavity? Once I released the clips from the door and the support cup to the frame of the vehicle there was no way for me to get that spring outside that cavity. The spring went fully expanded is longer by about 1 in within that cavity so no matter how much I angle it it just will not come out.
@@az_84_944 Yes the easiest way to pull it out is by first backing it out between the hinge cavity and then pushing it forward under an out of the tissue box cavity.
The damper does not come out of this hole. I normally would need to compress that thing, but HOW? And, even if i m able to remove the old one, dont I need to again pre-compress the new one a bit to assemble it in place?
I had the same problem as you, the space is very narrow. I finally solved by opening the trunk door to its maximum, otherwise the hinges dont allow enough clear room! No need to compress.
By the way if anybody is planning on tackling this job then I would highly suggest changing out the window springs as well if needed because it's side by side.
Is this the same for the 06 3.2 touaregs? I’m trying to order the part and I can’t tell if it’s two struts or just one any help would be much appreciated
No the Porsche Cayenne struts are smaller. I own a Cayenne and a Touareg, I replaced the struts at the same time so I can guarantee that they are different sizes.
