5 year door technician here I've serviced 10s of thousands of doors. This isn't going to fix anything unless the door wasn't properly adjusted at the time of install. You got to understand most of these doors are put in by guys that get paid per door installed. some of them can install an entire door in an hour flat by themselves. But they cut corners and their work is sloppy. More doors put in by these guys are out of adjustment than not. The problems may not present until years later sometimes when the hinges start to wear and make noises and the rivets holding the door together begin to get loose. If you want to actually make your door run smoother you need to make sure it is properly balanced by the spring, that the bearing plates are level with the bottom corners of the door, that the rollers are in good free spinning shape, that the door sections are not bowing when the door is ran up, and that the operator is properly adjusted and not putting unnecessary wear and tear on the door

Your welcome..You might also have to adjust the limit switch on the closed side..might have to set it down a little so the door stops when the top panel is tight to the frame...hope this helps!!! Thanks for watching!!

This method solved my 23 years garage door not closing. The garage door would close half distance and go back up again.

What if the panels are too tight against each other? Is that even possible? One of our panels seems to bow when the door comes up and then when it's closing it makes the whole thing "pop" back out and shakes the whole thing. Hopefully that makes sense. Would you suggest the same type of adjustment for the big loud pop happening when lowering the door? Thanks.

Yes I would try it..loosen the screws that are in the long gated holes then shake the panels then retighten...should take the stress off 9 out of 10 times..if that dont work the panel might be warped... good luck!!! let me know if it works!!!

@@RobbersVblog Thanks for your reply. It turned out being a couple of the panels were lightly cracked and would sag with the door raised and then loudly pop back in place when the door was lowered. I found some more help on RU-vid to add a metal strut across the panels to add support and keep them from flexing and popping. I got a 8', $30 angled metal bracket and attached it to the hinge bolts across two of the door panels. Worked like a charm. $30 vs $530 it was going to take a company to come out and add struts and replace the springs.
