Ain’t working on my 2007 e93. Cylinder 3 misfire, swapped coils with #2 and the code followed, changed all the plugs and coils and it’s running great. Light will not go out, codes will not clear with the tool. Still showing 2 and 3 misfire stored in there. There’s no misfire though, running absolutely great!
Hello did you ever get that light out?? I have the same problem right now. I put new spark plugs and coils. And with my scanner the light will not go away. But the vehicle is running fine.🤷♂️
@@mannydelgado1770 yes I meant to come back and post my fix. I have the OBDLink CX scan interface, and I was using the app that came with it. The engine light would just not go out driving for a week, obviously no issues, so I paid for the BimmerLink app. Firstly, the scan gave me more detail on the stored codes which would have been nice before, and I quite easily was able to turn off the light. I think it was $40 which is a bit stiff but I’m hoping it will pay for itself in the future…
Nope 👎, these cars very complicated and the issue needs to fixed. If you remove the check engine light bulb it will detect that too and you won’t pass future smog tests.
@@tomcat561999 you would need a speciality scantool. Did you buy the part used or new. I just did changed out amp on mini Cooper and part was over $1300 new and I grabbed the BMW part and on eBay. With the used amp I received it was plug and play and didn't need any sort of activation. _Randomfix
RANDOMFIX Hello, it came already in the car, but is not activated.i need a code to set it up or a procedure better said...I know is possible, I need to figure it out.....
Im looking to get that scanner, quick ? I need my CEL cleared for emissions, will the scanner do that? Im dealing with a seal leak or valve cover gasket leak. Its causing my 328i to idle low and make a loud continous whistle but..... I add rear main sealer and it runs fine and the engine line eventually goes off but. I need to clear it for emissions and it's in need of more sealer.
Clearing the check engine light will does not mean you will pass a smog test. You will have to clear the code and also complete a drive cycle without the check engine turning back on.
Should this work with a bmw 528i 2008 model? I received the scanner you recommended today, but when I plugged it in, the scanner read no codes stored. Also, it wouldn't allow me to erase any codes, but my check engine light is still on. Any suggestions, should I return the scanner?
This this works for the 2008 bmw e60. So your check engine light is on but you the obd2 reader sees no codes? Does it say the MIL (malfunction illumination light) light is on?
@@RANDOMFIX No, when I scan it (if I am scanning correctly) it goes real fast and then the message no codes stored appears. I just received the scanner yesterday and have contact Amazon for a refund, but I really don't want to send it back if it's the correct scanner and I am just doing something incorrect. You run the scan without the engine running, right? Does it matter if the radio is on or should everything else be turned off. Thank you so much for your response.
Yes but after 2010 some codes can not be erased. Also, you should really fix the issue causing the issue, This will only access the basic codes and if you get a better oem specific scan tool you can view the bmw side of the codes for a better idea on the cause.
If you erase the codes without fixing the problem, will the check engine light turn on again? (If it is faulty it won’t turn back on, I’m asking if it is not faulty)
I will the check engine will not turn back on if the problem is not detected again after your reset a check engine light. So if it not faulty it will not turn back on. _Randomfix
I don’t recall specifically as this e60 has a slew of issues so I told my friend that I would fix all the issues as long as I make a video for each repair and $15 per hour and he had to pay for parts. He is a really good friend and the lesson I learned was never sell a friend a bmw as they will always complain. 😂
Try a different scanner + make sure you battery voltage is also over 11.5+ volts.if the other scanner has an issue as well then check the pins of the obd2 connector before you really have to start digging. Best of luck. Randomfix
