Used the reset method on my Tanix TX9 box, it had a video issue (scrambled video) after Amlogic S912 logo screen. My method: TX9 Box connected to HDMI, held down reset button (reset hole near SPDIF), plugged in box, box booted, logo showed, held reset until logo hangs (about 15 seconds), stopped holding the reset button in, waited about 20-30 seconds "Recovery Mode" popped up. From there did a factory reset like your video. Awesome. Love your videos, always informative. Thank you, Peter.

my android device is stuck on tryin to flash a different build everytime i load to android recovery menu it just starts burning the build again (in fact it loads to recovery mode on its own) how do i make is stop so i can use the menu again ?

My set x96 x4 just newly bought and once start up less than 10 mins it just switch off by its own then i tried to reboot it by using the tooth pick reset way it actually works once but then it turn off again till now no matter how many times i tried reboot it , it just dont works. X96 mini... pin hole is in AV port, i even opened the box and nothing, i can not get in recovery? any hints how long to press or when to release or what to do,,,i found perfect roms for it to flash but can not enter recovery

I'm trying to get this box to reset and it doesnt go into the boot menu. I've restarted it and held the reset button down. I've unplugged it and held the rest down and nothing happens. If the box is on and I hit the reset button then it just asks to power off or restart.

Wow Peter love this video. The only things I don't like about this box are the unstable wi fi connectivity on my box compared with many other different boxes I own and the darkness. Hi. On recovery mode the volume and power buttons are used because those are normally the only physical buttons on a phone when you go to recovery. Also, it is also a good idea to wipe cache as there might be old data there that might prevent the box from booting. On the mecool you can get to recovery by just holding the power button until it boots although the reset button gets you there also.

I have message saying "INVALID FORMAT" and then it does not boot to launch screen. No H96 Pro + screen or MBOX screen.Factory reset tried nothing happens. Any ideas??

I have H96 max plus 4k 64 GB, just installed Su on it and then bang gone... remote control was not working before so i was trying to fix it. now i have box which is useless. I followed your screen, yes I get the screen more-less like yours, but I don't see "Wipe cache partition" so only i select Wipe data factory reset and it completes it, but when rebooting it, it's still same.. stuck with load up logo... Any idea what i can do with this?

My box looks exactly like the one you have but can't reset it. When I plug it in all I get on my TV is a black screen with No Signal. I have tried sticking a pin in the reset and nothing happens. Since there is no power button I have tried putting the pin in the hole while plugging the power back in with no results. In any event, can't get it to reset. Up until today the unit has been working fine - only 3 months old. Any idea's?

I have tried the wipe cache/factory reset/ and mount system options with a power reboot and no success! Can I reload the firmware via SD card and bypass this issue all together or must I resolve this first?

Hi Peter i have a Trongle X1PRO box it has been stuck in restricted profile for sometime now dont care what i try i cannot get it out of restricted profile .when the box is turned on it goes to the home screen then is redirected straight to the restricted profile screen. the box has no reset AV hole for the toothpick method.

I do this with my android tablet, Power down completely, then hold the "power button" and the "volume down button" until you get into recovery mode. On my tablet I highlight, by using the volume up-down to select the wipe cache partition and select it using the power button. The first time I did it, it takes some time, after that, I do it once and a while just to clean it out. The tablet will reboot when it's done. I don't have a TV box, but I would try the wipe cache partition, just to clean out the junk cache; its the same as cleaning out the cache files in your Kodi addons.

+peter carcione i upgraded my android pro box with the h96 pro plus 7.1 firmware. Now my box wont boot up. ive tried reverting back to 6.0 and i get a green screen. Ive also tried to factory reset in the setting you show here. I need some help. Id appreciate it.

Hey Peter, I'm having an issue maybe you can help with. My CS918 box will not keep the time, I have to go into settings each time turn box on and set time. I tried turning on location and it's not turning on. Even tried using Google maps to turn on location and still won't turn on location. When in settings under date & time when I do automatic date & time for my state it's always off by an hour or two. Wondering if you have any suggestions as to how to get correct day & time set. Thanks. I have a couple of cheap boxes and I wanted to try some alternative firmware. I did get into recovery mode but I couldn't figure out how to use volume up/down and power. I never thought to use the remote and I just left it for another day. Freaktab has a great community if you need firmware, tools or help. They are a bit more friendly for noobs than XDA.

Hi we have a couple of different android boxes. Not sure which are the most up to date as I'm sure they are older models, and not sure how to install / program them, or which would be the best to use - we don't have a smart TV. These are the 3 that we have: MXIII 4K, Hi Media Q3 and ABox Pro 4K. Hopefully you can help with these. Note: Originally we had the ABox Pro 4K only using Netflix and the resolution was good; didn't try any other apps. However, just tried the Hi Media Q3 and was able to get to RU-vid and Netflix but resolution not good. Also considering trying Amazon Prime. Not sure how all of this works? Suggestions?

Peter I was watching your video recovery mode on android. On front of my box tronga 2 . I put it into recovery mode couple of times and the clock on the front goes to zero and when booting up again it counts down at mbox the bit it keeps flashes and sometimes 3 or 4 mins passes before alls loaded bk in. Its just because you looked a bit worried when it took so long all the same ur videos are brilliant

Peter, I have a H96 Ultra box I keep trying to get it to boot as per the video I watched. I've tried every step as you mentioned and I can't get the box to even boot at all. Just the power light is blue the whole time I hold in the pin. whether it's for 1 min or 10. nothing shows on the screen period. Tried as instructed but nothing works. I have just a blank screen that says No Signal. The only thing the box does is turn on and off. blue for on red for off. Is there something else that I could try. If so could you leave me a message. Hi Peter. I received an android box for free from Verizon. It’s the Verizon stream tv box. It comes with its own interface and launcher which is really annoying so I downloaded tv launcher but Verizon has changed the settings of the box and I am not allowed to use the tv launcher as default or download Google tv launcher. My question is, do you think if I do this “toothpick hard reset” if I can get the box back to its original android stock settings/stock launcher(before Verizon put its own stuff in there)?The box only has power, hdmi and Ethernet ports. Maybe this could be a topic for a video since Verizon is giving away for free these boxes for people who sign up for gigabit speeds or 5G?;)Thank you. Any feedback highly appreciated!
