i love you. I was freaking out cause i bought a really expensive final sale ring and thought i had fucked up royally cause its way too big, but this really made me feel like it doesnt have to be the end of the world. I dont HAVE to make such a big deal out of it, I can just use some tape to wear it out when i want to, and it actually doesnt fall out at all. Simple solutions, huge relief. Thank you
Sooo get it resized. Expensive jewellery or just jewellery in general should be professionally resized, this is only a temporary measure until you can get it made smaller. It’s not a permanent solution.
I use fabric bandaids and wrap it around the inner part of the ring so you don't have to change the tape every time :) (and so it isn't sticky and uncomfortable)
I use stickable velcro (the soft side) to line the inside of my ring to make it fit tighter. It works wonders. It's soft when you slide your ring on and off, and it stays on the ring (the tape would fall off and you'd have to roll a new one each time you wear it, no?) Try it! =)
I had to chuckle when you gave your ring size -- I love Native American sterling/turquoise (and other fun gemstones) rings, but it's hard to find them in my size because the ones I fixate on are always 4-6, with far fewer in the 8-10 range. I actually got a tremendous deal on a size 12, which is two sizes too large for my largest finger, so I haven't worn it yet, but your video and people's comments have given me lots of ideas! Thanks to everyone! 😺💕🐾
Love it, I got a cool pinky ring for christmas but it was not even half a cm size bigger and this worked perfectly, it also kinda gives it a stronger grip on my finger + the smaller size
Thanks for this! I ordered a ring on Amazon, and it was way too big so I returned it and ordered 2 sizes smaller. This one was just a tiny bit too big, so I decided to just look this up instead of waiting a week for the return/recieve process again
I've been eyeing Rachel Roy costume rings for a month, and now I think I can buy them with this trick :) I can't even believe I couldn't come up with this trick on my own...Thanks so much for sharing this trick =)
This method worked!!!! Thank you! Such a simple yet genius methodology! I was considered about having my ring tightened a bit for two reasons: 1. They might ruin my ring and my ring was given to me by someone very special, someone that has been in my life for a long time now, and will forevermore be in my life for as long as live, and 2. Every jewelry shop I called wanted to charge between $65 and $95 - only one of the stores was at $95, though. Regardless, they all said it would take a week or more; with one telling it will take about 3 days and the other telling me it would take up to 3 weeks, simply due to the fact that Christmas is less than 2 weeks from now. Still, that’s just about of 1. Money and 2. As a result of #1, putting things in motion, extremely long time. - CDM 13 Dec 2023
@monkie2000 Sorry for the late response, but I would recommend this only for rings about 1-2 sizes too big (nothing too huge on you!). If you can find "foam" or "mounting" tape at either the dollar store or craft store, that has worked really well for me. It's a little thicker and sticks on for a long time - my little piece of foam tape has lasted in my ring for months!
omg thank you thank you thank you! i can't believe i never thought of this. i have tiny hands, think like grade 4 kids' hands, and it's impossible to find rings that are my size, even though i looooove rings. THANK YOU for making my.....well really thank you for making my life! i can now wear rings!!!!!
you could either just get double sided tape and wrap it around a piece of string and put it on the band. Or, you could get sizing beads, which are little beads that you or a jeweller can put on the inside of the band.
@joyheartsmakeup Yes I agree! F21 size 6 definitely runs a little smaller. I love their rings too for something trendy and inexpensive : ) Topshop ring sizing is terrible - they start at size "S," which compared to F21 is at least a 7.
@saddlerackcowgirl I've gotten into the habit of removing my nicer costume rings when washing hands to avoid wearing down the finish, regardless of whether or not there's tape inside. If you wash your hands w/ rings on then the stickiness might wear off quicker. Try foam or mounting tape though - it's lasted a long time for me even through a few hand washes where I had nowhere to put the rings down!
Hey, what would you suggest for rings which don't have such thick bands? I don't know what they're called but I have a few which are really thin, and I can't stick the tape, it just won't bed enough and it's wider than the ring itself. thanks (:
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jViNW0wTaDE.html I found this really helpful. I wanted something more permanent & that I felt would work better to wear when washing my hands
This actually does work. You do have to be careful when you just washed your hands casue it can slip off. Dry your ring finger throughly , tape dries and still holds ring to your finger.
Ooo scotch tape isn’t looking too good on my side probably because it’s just my scotch tape but I think I’m going to use one half of a bandaid those a sticky
@vc2585 Thanks for watching! I too have been buying costume rings more freely now! I can't believe it took me this long to come up with this tip lol...after breaking a few rings that flew off my fingers : (
I have a real ring I just wrapped some tape 'around' the band instead. It lasts me atleast a month and I wash my hands a lot. I was looking for snuggies but then realized I could cut some 3/8'' clear vinyle tubing at the hardware store and make the same thing for like 2 cents.
Yeah it's very difficult to shop for rings. My bf and I got promise rings and mine was the smallest size so I had them resize it smaller. Then after trying it on it was still big!! Made me think I had abnormally skinny fingers lol. My size in f21 for rings is 6 and they fit pretty nicely.
thank you soo much! i love ur rings they so pretty and you r too :) i have this ring and it didnt fit so i used thread and wrapped a bunch around the ring, but it looks ugly bcoz u can see it when my palm in facing someone so im gonna try this now haha ! thanks again! :)
I have the same problem because I'm a 5.5 and I can fit the rings from forever. Thank you so much for sharing this trick, I have like a zillion rings I've been dying too wear.
you're sooo pretty! :) i do this with double sided tape, but don't pull off one side! a) cause its usually thicker b) cause then the tape won't stick to your finger! :)
i just tried this trick on a ring my boyfriend just gave me and it didn't work. The ring has a thin band so do you know any other tricks that could help
I'm also a size 4, 5! (tiny fingers ftw) A size 6 only fits if they run small, I own a few. I recently bought 2 that I couldn't pass up that were a size 6, hoping they'd run small, they ended up falling right off, I'm gonna try the double sided (mounting) tape because I really love the rings and it would be more trouble than it's worth to return them (they came off ebay from China LOL)
I put tape to resize some of my real gold rings :p since there a size to big. you can do this with gold rings for the time being , before you actually go get them resized!
My wedding ring (size 4.75) just recently feels so big that I'm constantly afraid it is going to whip off my fnder and be gone forever. I think its just seasonal, so it will fit soon in the near future. This is a perfect solution for a temorary problem.
Don't forget guys and girls that your fingers swell in warm weather and and the rings will feel tighter And looser in the cold weather all down to the blood vessels in the fingers
