Glad to see that someone else is having problems with 1) getting the screen to respond with taps, and 2) trying to reset the device while it's in the charger. The engineers responsible for the design of the charger/charging pins have got to be held accountable for this :) - it's ridiculous. Bad design.
Thanks so much! We were frustrated with the online forum and long manual, to the point that we were about to throw away the Fitbit Charge 4 (my husband bought this model only 3 weeks ago) and buy an Apple watch. Take care, and keep up the good work, your instructions are targeted and concise.
Same issue for me. Spent about an hour on live chat with fitbit who kept telling me to wiggle it about and make sure it's connected correctly before "referring" me to higher tier support, which I must now wait for them to contact me. Has anybody else had this issue resolved?
@@jamesrdzanek6805 I solved it by leaving the device be (NOT charging it) for about an hour whilst I went to do something else. When I came back it went through with the normal setup with minimal issues.
Just got a new Charge 4 today, stuck on the part where it says to connect the charger, but nothing... after a couple restarts and attempts to pair, I finally got to a part where it asks for a 4 digit code that should be displayed on the screen; the screen stays blank. Idk what is going on. :
Sorry to hear that. You’re not the only one with this problem. This Fitbit Community thread might help: community.fitbit.com/t5/Charge-4/Charge-4-blank-screen/td-p/4182907
Same for me right now, no smiley face :( on me or the Fitbit. Gonna return and get the Garmin tomorrow as I'm concerned about how many people have this issue
This is what I've read from the Fitbit Community Forum: "It looks like you just have to wait for the update like everyone is saying. I had the same problem and could not get into setup either. I got my charge 4 on Monday and tried everything I could think of. Then I read in Community that others were having the same problem and to wait for the Firmware to update. Today Wed the app said the update was ready. I updated and that took care of the problem. It looks like you have to wait for the update (48.20001.96.29) and it takes a few days. The app will get the update and then tell you to update." You can read more here: community.fitbit.com/t5/Charge-4/Unable-to-access-Charge-4-settings/td-p/4600100/page/3
I have the same Fitbit but when I open it and got it all set up and then couple of hours go by and it starts vibrating and it keeps going to the clock then to the dnd thing when you hold it
I got my GF a Fitbit charge 4 and it is malfunctioning. Cannot enter settings menu and holding button do nothing. Gonna return it and just go with garmin
This seems to be an unfortunate bug that will be fixed when a second firmware update appears for you in a few days. It's definitely a poor user experience. You can read about others with this issue and how it got fixed at these links: community.fitbit.com/t5/Charge-4/Can-not-open-Settings-in-my-Charge-4/td-p/4598696 community.fitbit.com/t5/Charge-4/Charge-4-Settings-not-opening/td-p/4597703 www.reddit.com/r/fitbit/comments/k86dqo/charge_4_cannot_open_settings/
I had the black screen issue with the Fitbit Charge 4, I tried resetting by holding the button for 8, 10, 15 seconds. Would not work. I read on here that the button may lose track of pressure from finger/thumb. I used a Phillips screwdriver to apply pressure (firm but not overdoing it). I had to hold the button down for closer to 20 seconds but finally saw the smiley face. PS - I used the screwdriver because it was handy, in retrospect you could probably use a cotton swab or something similar to apply pressure without risking damaging/scuffing it.
I just got a charge 4. I want to like it but its quite infuriating. GPS only works intermittently when "dynamic" GPS is selected. "Built in GPS" doesn't appear to work. I've lost GPS connection both times now on a run. Doesn't sync data to Strava aswell and fitbit has the nerve to ask for monthly payments to unlock more app features. Finally here in the U.K fitbit pay supports 1 just 1 major bank. Pitiful.
Maybe. Are you starting an exercise manually via the Exercise App on the Charge 4 or just using auto detect? If starting an exercise manually, what Exercise Shortcut(s) are you using (for example, are you using "Walk" and "Bike" or "Outdoor Workout")? I've seen others say their distance isn't being tracked when they use the "Outdoor Workout" Exercise Shortcut, but it does if they use "Walk".
I've been trying to set mine up and it still won't turn on even when I press and hold the power button...the screen is just blank and I just get a few vibrations ughhhh
@@ashleyhankey8428 noo I returned it and got another one that is still doing the same thing☹️ so I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong...after the smiley face nothing happens
Every time I try to go into my settings app, the watch freezes then crashes and goes black. Then to the Home Screen. What do I do 🤦♂️🤦♂️ restarting it doesn’t help :/
Sounds like you need to wait for the firmware update that should appear within a few days if you're syncing your device a few times per day. You can read more about the fix here: community.fitbit.com/t5/Charge-4/Can-not-open-Settings-in-my-Charge-4/td-p/4598696
nope not at all it seems your one works 100% but for me even after replacing the first 1 i got yesterday cause it wouldnt setup. now i cant put spotifiy on and support told me to restart then boom i cant contact them live chat just happens to disconnect and not come back. and i cant restart by settings or the pressing button while charging it. i hope tomorrow gets better but i hope not to go back for a replacement.
Are you asking how to stop an exercise or how to access the clock face during an exercise? If it's the first, you just press the side button once to pause, a second time to stop, then tap "Finish" on the screen, then press the side button once to return to the Apps, and then press the side button again to return to the clock face. If it's the second, unfortunately you can't access the clock face during an exercise. You can tap or swipe the display during an exercise to change the middle stat, and one of the stats should be the current time.
