I thought you were going to show us how to restore a backup, where restore was "skipped" during WhatsAp installation and and overwritten with a "blank" back up??.

I recently reinstalled whatsapp on my phone, before that i made a full backup of 6.8 gb on google drive Then, I reinstalled whatsapp and accidentally skipped and made a new 3 mb backup. I cant restore Whatsapp from google drive after i register , cuz when I'm choosing a google account to restore from, it takes me to Google account sign in page and after i sign it it tells me "This account already exists on your device" and no matter what ive tried (re-adding that account, syncing it) nothing worked
Keep in mind that if people don't have a backup in drive they would loose it every chat. You have to check if you have back up every time you need to do anything wired.
I have 15 gb whatsapp data backed up on my iCloud. I just upgraded from iPhone 13 to iPhone 15. When I installed whatsapp on new phone , it says no data found to restore. I am using the same Apple ID on my new device but different no. Since i reloctedto a different country. Does it mean my data will never be restored? Please advice
Hello ♡ In June, my BLU phone screen became unresponsive so I had to use an old phone (Samsung S9 Plus) for WhatsApp. I had my chat backup set to daily before the phone screen died so I thought I'd get my chats back if I restored then on the S9+ but this was not this case for some reason. The last time I used WhatsApp on the S9+ was in April 2023 and only until then was restored. So, I have a 14 month gap in messages. I decided to get over it because I had exams coming up and I no time to worry about some chats so I continued using WhatsApp on the S9+ with the 14 month gap. Now, I've finally gotten a new phone but I haven't set up WhatsApp on it yet and I was wondering if there is a way to use the backups on the BLU itself (Not Google Drive) to fill in the gap in the chats. Like is there a way to somehow merge the two sets of chats? Or do I just have to live with the gap? Please help 🙏

I'm trying to restore my WhatsApp back up from my old android phone to my newer android phone... I've uninstalled Whatsapp on the new phone and re-installed it again. When I open it now I get the Profile info page. I'm worried that if I start filling in my details that it might just set up a new account and all my last 15 years of chat history will be gone. @@palakkothari7095 Yes you can restore your chat using the app that this guy talks about which is paid one. You need to take a 1 year subscription of 20$ equivalent amount. But you should check how much data is backed up there (e.g. MB) by logging in into the app with you gmail id where your backups are. Because in my case it was showing that 0 kb is backed up. So I could not restore my chats I don't know what happened my chats are just gone forever.

I was having an issue with this then realised that my Whatsapp account on my old phone was setup with an old phone number. Once I changed the phone number on my whatsapp account on my old phone to my new number, Whatsapp was able to find my backup on my new phone.

Just check the WhatsApp files in your device's File Manager and delete the backup of the blank chats you created recently, and only leave the old backup with proper data. After this, set up your WhatsApp again, and your old backup with complete chats will be detected by WhatsApp to restore automatically.

Hey there, it is impossible to recover the encrypted backup without remembering the password. Even if you change the password, the encrypted backup will remain inaccessible because it is encrypted with your old password.

But every once in a while, I have this notification while WhatsApp goes to a halt that my messages are being backed up. I just do not know what is going on. Also, once I delete a chat, would it also be deleted from my drive? I use an Android.

@@WondershareMobileTrans I contacted Apple they confirmed. Whatsapp overwrites any backups and previous ones cannot be retrieved. Awful. If whatsapp didn’t overwrite. Apple could keep the back up. But whatsapp overwrites with access to iCloud Drive.
I do have a backup file on google drive, however whatsapp can't see it & when i reinstall it it says no backup found after i gave it permission to check it. At the same time i can't find the file in local storage, but i can see it on google drive. Can anybody help me ?
If you are not able to detect the backup file present in your Google Drive, the chances are that you are not logged in with the same Google account on WhatsApp that you have used to create the backup file. Secondly, if you are not using the same phone number used to create the backup, it won't be restored.

I have a bit of an odd situation that I need help with... I have recently switched phones and the new phone (Phone C - 2022) ended up restoring a backup from 2 phones ago (Phone A - 2018). Now Phone C has chat history from C and A, but the most recent old phone (Phone B - 2020) has 2 years of history that I want on Phone C. Is there any way of doing this?
