Hi Norm When sanding primer you should always use a rubber sanding block. You can get them at any good auto parts store. They will help keep your paint job nice and flat and prevent your fingers from putting grooves in the primer base. Love you videos and good job saving these Tractors. Have been looking for a good Tractor candidate to restore and install a back hoe and loader on. Cheers Willy

@3:10, regarding the spray paint propellant, I have found that I can use the entire can if I place my spray cans in the warm sun first or if it is cold out, I place them in a warm bath of water. Never over heat the can, that will make it worse but warm them to about 90 degrees and you will get fantastic performance right down to the last drop of paint in the can.

What you could do is turn the spray can upside down and spray out any paint that is in the nozzle. I've also seen a guy using a tire valve with a compressor to ad pressure back into a spray can. Hope it helps. Great video!

This! It works and you get full value out of your can of paint. Gets too expensive to throw away good paint.

I will never use a wire brush on my grinder to clean paint off ever again that disk works pretty good.

I use those prep wheels too. They put a nice shine on cast iron too. Gosh darned expensive though, especially the purple ones.You can get the spray can manufacturer to send you bags of spray caps.He's right about using the can up once you start.And don't rush application. Time your recoats with a clock. Do what it says on the can.

Great guide. Too bad you didn't list the tools and materials in the description. Fortunately, you give us a good view and description to write down/ Amazon search the materials.

was looking around yootube and found your channel. i guess i can say i save tractors too, theyre not all big gts like yours, but mine were all saved from being scrapped. currently im at 27 tractors, plus various parts and parts tractors, im hopin to get up to my folks sometime and rescue my other 4 tractors, 2 mtds and 2 wheelhorses. collection here ranges from mtds, murrays, craftsmans , dynamarks , a lone simplicity and a lone toro. the years ive collected range from 1969 to 2003. id really like to score an old ford , those are cool looking. ive ' rebuilt' a couple tractors, including a full paint job, it wasnt easy.👍

You want a nice hood when driving around the (neighbor)hood! I like that you use proper protection when working and good tips on spryer technic especially the wet on wet part! Will you be starting to sell Briggs and Stratton parts too or is Kohler your main focus? Regards Nils

To clean the tips of spray cans turn them upside down and spray until the color no longer comes out (should only take 15s)

Norman, like you I'm a tractor enthusiast. I love my cubs( IH) and always will, however older Kohler engines are a favorite. Also are you a certified welder ( D11 certified )? I am and I have to admire your welding in the loader and backhoe builds. Nice jobs and keep up the great work!
@Isavetractors
@Isavetractors 6 лет назад
Thanks! I am not a certified welder. I am a certified Master Engine Technician with the EETC and that's it. I am just a hobbyist welder. Thanks for your kind words! Stay tuned for more!

@Isavetractors
@Isavetractors 6 лет назад
I haven't needed to make my own decals yet, but I do have the capability of designing them and sending out for print. All the projects I have do so far, have the decals available from other places. For Ford check out: www.georgebradishtractorparts.com

Nice work, thanks for the video. I did not see any visible rust when you started - why didn't you just buff the white paint to a nice finish as the factory paint is still good?

I love your channel..my son and I found it a few weeks ago and we can't stop watching. We are learning so much. I have had tractors in my life forever but just recently started doing my own work to them. I am just curious when it comes to repainting- do you sand right over the stickers or remove them by hand? Also do you do this same technique for the frame or is there a different way to do the frame? Thank you so much.
@Isavetractors

I sand over the stickers. I don't go as crazy on the frame.

A lot of places sell them now. I primarily get them from harbor freight tools, but every brand makes an iteration of the Poly Carbide Disk now.
