Yes they retread the tires to keep cost down but by law they can't put retreaded tires on the front of the truck

Yeah semi truck companies do it because then they don't have to pay for disposal of the tire and a lot of companies will have their drivers go till the rear tires blow out so that way they don't have to pay for disposal they can just leave them on the side of the road and retreads are very dangerous

Maaaan this is GOOD... In my country the "recapping" is made by hand with very cheap tools and crappy methods... It's so common to see the recapped layer on a highway :(

I remember when I used to work at a tire place for tractors and trailers, we would take peoples used tires for them at charge and then I’d be the one to grab an electric saw and cut them into pieces all day to take them to a dump!🤦🏻‍♂️

The only bad part about re-treads is they aren't as strong as virgin tires. Or at least they weren't about 10 years ago. My father worked in the heavy haul trucking industry and every time they put re-treads on his loads they blew out within 10 miles. (He always specifically demanded virgin tires but they would often put on re-treads anyways) These re-treads are only available for large commercial tires. They are illegal to make and sell for passenger vehicle use in the USA.

Well sometimes it actually depends on the retreader, if they retread it professionally it’ll last almost as a new tire.

В начали 90х такую резину завозили из-за бугра. Называли "наварной". Тогда весь отечественный автопром был на камерной резине. Металлические корты завезенышей часто прокалывали камеру. Вообщем не прижились эти покрышки.

Now these look like big chunky heavy machinery tires which is well and good, but when it comes to semi truck tire retreads, what they don't show you is the massive chunks of tire lining the major highways like I-10.

Looks 👀like a shop that actually is doing it correctly! Nice Job 👍🏻! Retreads are perfect for off road machinery, especially if you can get them for 1/2 the cost as new! You should never use them on a steer axle! Actually against the law @ if there seen in a weight station, they can put you out of service! Actually they are great in the north, logging trucks & trailers, feed delivery trailers, places where the asphalt doesn’t get over 110 degrees, or on trucks that haul heavy in the cold weather! They should never be used on over the road trucks in the south! Too much weight & too high road temps, make them come apart easily, when extremely hot, or driving over the speed limits! Why do you think you see so many on the highways of the south! Also if you cannot get for half price of new, it’s not really worth it! Just think if you need to call a tire shop to come out to you on the highway 🛣 & change them out! The cost & lost time will cost more than just buying new!

First they remove there tread and second they buffing on tyre and third put fabric and compound belt on it and fourth they laminate the tyre by the compund and they use aplicator for laminate strips and five they put tyre in curing process to cure the tyre and there tread shape bye the mould of the press...... I am worked in BKT tyre industry bro

Recaps are shit, I've had more blowouts due to caps coming off than I've ever had with brand new tires. A couple weeks ago I had a recap lose its tread and still have air in the tire.

It’s just part of the manufacture process there is no actual use for it and it’ll go away once you start driving. Those are not wear markers they are too small and are on the outside of the tire so they wouldn’t even help knowing what your wear is at.

I hate this aspect of money saving. In the long run the re tread dosent last as long as an original because the tread always separates and blows the tire. Maybe it would be fine for off road use like excavation equipment loaders etc. But highway use on class a and b trucks is not efficient.

@@TechInLifeToday thanks for the reply. We run 445/70/22.5 retreads on cement mixers. As the mechanic im the lucky guy that gets to replace them on the side of the highway when they blow. Had one last week completely blow the fenders and brackets off the frame rail. I understand you save 200$ a tire, but to me it's not worth the savings.

used recaps on our 18 wheeler trailer , when spring was going to summer the roads were warming up was the time they usually failed , we would make sure they were aired up to 110 lbs , low tires get hot hot

Now we’re cooking. One revolution of that tire would equal 10 revolutions on a normal tire. Think of all the gas you’ll save when you only need 1000 revolutions instead of 10,000 revolutions to get to work! Genius! 🤣

@@tobylewis1920 Higher risk of failure. Though, I wonder if that's the case on large and slow construction vehicles. The worry is that the re-tread will separate from the rest of the tire, which can cause severe damage, injury, or death. But if the tire isn't spinning that fast....
