Thank you. I like how you break down all your instructions. I am a beginner and did not where to begin. I'm here stuck in my home during corona virus pandemic. Now is time to start this again.
Wow, the best video I have watched(and I have viewed many) on reupholstering a chair seat. The visuals, and audio are perfect. Your knowledge, and expertise attest to the fact that you are truly a Master Upholsterer! I'm redoing just one chair. But, I was really struggling with the corners on the chair seat. After watching this I realized it was about so much more than the corners. Now I feel confident in getting the job done. Thank you for taking the time to share your expert advice.
Thank you, crazy skills you have. You make it look so easy, I'm sure it will take more than 15 minutes for me to staple it down and get the corners right!😂
Wonderful. We have a very old chair which needs a new seat. I followed the instructions and în an hour my wife had a new cushion and she was very happy. And for a hubby’s DIY project that was the goal.
Great video. I really appreciated you giving the material information concerning replacement of the set padding. The detailed steps and explaination set this presentation apart from others
Very informative easy to understand I'm just barely getting into trying to reupholster some old furniture that's at my parents house I don't like throwing stuff away so I'm trying to surprise them your video helps out a lot thank you I don't have any of the tools you're using and I got a hand stapler going to try my best
Great info, sadly my chair is different. It has some kind of webbing that is damaged. I will work around it and tour video has given me the courage to open it and fix it. Thank you!
Thanks for the video! It really helped us figure out how to do the job without much hassle. The corners were really tough because our fabric was pretty thick. With practice and patience, the job is halfway done. I'll have the other 3 chairs done before dinner on Saturday! thanks again Barry!
There was no mention of how much profanity I would need while using a staple gun, but... you did warn me generally. I did a trial run with the old fabric and feel a lot more confident, but now I'm investing in some kind of pneumatic nail gun that doesn't require me sweating, grimacing, and cursing as if I were giving birth. Thanks for the great instruction!
My hubby and I covered our dining chair seats, only 2, without taking off the old stuff. We never did it before, and used an upholstery vinyl we bought at JoAnn’s. It probably would have gone much better to take it all off before putting on the new stuff, but we’ll know better next time. 🥴 That being said it looks pretty good! But we’ll do it right next time.
This was excellent! I did a really quick job on my chairs but knew it wasn't correct. I was rushed for time. While the wood is getting refinished, my plan is to re-do the correct way.
Thank you for mentioning the center line, cutting out notches for center and for tailoring the corners. I do not like the fold I like your way much better. Thank you. :)
Good thorough video, but, this guy hasn't answered a single question posted here. I was going to ask what size/gauge staples he uses, but... I do appreciate the instruction about centering and alignment with the guide lines.
Great video. Our problem is removing the seat. There are no screws in the corner blocks or any where on the perimeter after we remove the dust cover There is webbing that appears to be glued to the top of the frame Our cushions are very good but the fabric is stained and we want to change it but removing the seat is puzzling and before I go further I wanted to inquire
Im guessing that foam is 2 inch? I just started some dining chairs from the 50s and I think I better replace this old cotton mat. Confused on foam width.
Question......I have seats just like yours and they are covered in leather, which is in great condition. I just want to change the color. I have bought a faux leather product. Can I upholster over the leather or should I remove it? I'm thinking it would be extra padding plus there are dozens and dozens of staples in the chairs now. Thank you!
Great job. very formative,I like to know if you can give me a tip on stronger fabric what would be your tips on how to do the corner not sure if the same rules apply cause i had a hard time getting the shape you indicated, much appreciated
How the foam is attached? Is it stapled right to the edge? I cannot see it being wrapped around the seat part. Any suggestions? In the video he completely omitted that part.
where do you buy your dense foam from? I was looking for 2.8 density and places like joann do not give you that information. I am getting ready to do 93 restaurant chairs. The big foam companies that do have those specs around me want 1500 dollar order? which do you recommend? thanks in advance
I recommend 1 1/2 " foam and Dacron on top for a nice full and comfortable look and feel.. foam density is up to you. Here in California I use a medium density open cell foam for most customers.
Darn it. I was looking up videos for corner tips as I am that far but my foam, repuposed from other chair cushions doesn't have the poly batting, just a thin fabric layer. What is the negative from not having the poly batting around the foam?
+Justin Shiffler - Justin I know this was two weeks ago so you may not need the information now. The batting just gives it a better finished look and feel. It all depends on the chair and what you are trying to do (and the foam, the type of fabric being used, etc). However, what the batting does is soften the lines and round out the top of the cushions in a smoother fashion (especially with thin fabric) and provide a small soft barrier between the person and the cushion.
It shows every little lump and bump and irregularity without the batting. The batting will just make sure it looks a little smoother and better finished. :)
