As soon as I bought my bike this summer I was dying to take my girlfriend for a ride. Once I was feeling good riding solo I bought her a helmet and then instantly realized the reality of riding two-up (on a sport bike). Holy shit it's hard work, for both of us. But one of my best rides EVER was one of my last this season, with her on the back. I learned to treat it as a challenge, almost a sort of game, having to clench every muscle all the time. We rode for hours, leaning in on curvy back roads and doubling the speed limits out in the corn fields. She had so much fun, we're officially bike lesbians lol

I had my boyfriend on my minibike, and I told him to hold onto me tightly and not resist my movement. We rode around around for about an hour, and after the first 35-45 minutes he relaxed and got the hang of following my movements. The last 20-ish minutes was the best time I've had on my bike. Totally worth it. I know it's not a sport bike but it worked well for us. ~30mph cruising.

2 things I always tell the mrs when she gets on and anyone else really 1. wait for my signal that I'm ready (we run cardo's but for anyone else its a clear nod) then get on from the left put your left hand on my shoulder left foot on the peg and throw the other leg over to the other peg (this next part depends on the bike but I've found it necessary on my xj600 not so much my zzr600) once your sat on the seat keep the ball of your foot on the pegs and grip the bike with your knees. 2. put your upper arm straight down the side of your body pressing your elbows into just above the top of your hips and put your hands on me where your elbows are on you, the reason is simple it creates enough space that we don't knock helmets, they have something clear to hold onto and by being locked together like this they are forced to lean with me. I have taken many inexperienced people before and it's been no problem since doing this I think riders take for granted how strange being on a bike in the first place is let alone having no control over it...funnily enough the person I have the most problem with is the mrs because she will fidget or put her arm out to point at things without saying anything and you'd be surprised how much of an impact it makes.

Actually, the best way I found out for a passenger to ride is to extend their arms around the rider's waistline and push both hands against the gas tank supporting their own weight. I've taken a lot of passengers 1st timers with 100% success. Yes you explain to them keeping their helmet slightly away (back from yours) and while leaning not to lean counter or panic and just go along with whatever the rider's doing as well as getting on the bike from the left side of the bike placing left foot on the left peg first grabbing on your shoulders etc

Life hack: if you have passenger just get a cruiser.

Two very simple instructions I give to new pillions. Don’t lean left or right and just look over my shoulder when turning left or right. If you overload them with information then they will just get confused. Keep it simple. 👍😎🇦🇺

My backpack is my 7 year old niece. She is more of an adrenaline junkie than me. The first ride she bear hugged me for all of ten seconds and was soon barely holding on (I got a harness that attaches her to me since our roads are bad and my butt leaves the seat often I was scared she'd do flying). My boyfriend and I have tried to teach her how to be a good rider, but she seems to just wanna go fast. I taught her how to tell me she wants me to weave around the lane, you would think I was dodging potholes with how often she wants me to. So much fun to have a backpack that barely throws off my stability!

What i always do if a buddy wants to ride with me is get them comfortable on my dirt bike then we'll move too the sport bike

Idk how I feel about the pride flags on the American flag I don’t have a problem with the lgbtq I just feel we should have the flags separated so we can appreciate all three in the beautiful thing they all represent

One trick I was taught to help the right weight distribution over corners is to tell the passenger to always look over the shoulder in the direction of the turn. For example turning left you would have the passenger be looking over your left shoulder.

Pro tip from an old head, have them get on from the left side just like you were taught in the MSF basic. If anything goes wrong you have that kickstand to catch you.

You forgot to mention that you also need to adjust the suspension of the motorcycle to safely ride with a passenger.

this might be because the Netherlands has a big bike culture but I immediately just went "wait some people don't know you're supposed to move along when you're the passenger" it's like so natural to me nobody asks but they always do it straight away because everyone here has experience on bicycles and scooters and mopeds they know what's the deal
