In this short and practical video, I'm going to show you two common mistakes that cause this, and what to do to improve your confidence while riding straight deep ruts in the woods or on trails on your dirt bike.

I’ll test this out. I had the front tire wash out 3 times today in ruts 😢

Thanks. Funny story: Teaching my four-year-old to ride a bicycle in a parking lot. He did very well, until we were heading onto the sidewalk with a telephone pole nearby. Guess what he steered perfectly straight into. Yes. The telephone pole.

61 years ago I remember clearly learning to ride a bike. My father took me to a closed school yard. The first time balancing on my own I was headed right towards a bottle lying on the ground. My father shouted to “just stop” but as I stared at that bottle I was frozen by fear. Of course, i hit it and fell over, ending the lesson. Indeed, my father seemed a little disgusted at my freezing up. Was a bit traumatic, obvious as I remember it so clearly. Wonder if that is what made get into motocross? A form of display that demonstrates progress of that day. My father saw me race once and said he thought I was crazy. Even today, after riding all these years, i have to remind myself to not look at dangerous surprises once noted. Look ahead my friends. And laughingly tell your child we all make some mistakes.

Thanks for another great video. That's the first thing I was told when I asked Mike at The Tryals Shop for advice before practicing for lesson one. He said look where you want to go, not where you don't. And also about foot peg pressure and positioning your feet on the pegs. I still haven't figured that out yet. Do you have a specific way to position your feet on the pegs? I guess it affects balance a lot.
