Your correct the slotted side is actually made to cause vibrations and dispurse water and the slotted side is actually the belly. According to skeet reece who designed them, so must people are doing it backwards cause there hook can lay in the slot and stay weedless. If I'm pitching I do it how berkely tells you to hook it. Its all personal preference. But I love these as well.
