This is a video on my favorite river set up when fishing anything from steelies, smalls, walleye, or any other river fish. Favorite rig for sixth street dam.
Thank you sir! Went salmon fishing yesterday and came back with nothing AND snapped my rod after getting hooked up with 30lb leader and a spinner. Going to go back in a few weeks with your setup advice this video helped a lot
Vin The Fishing Man, I have fished for years with my Dad & Grandpa. But now that they are no longer available to go fishing with I realized how fortunate I was to have them as role models fishing to learn from. I have not been fishing for years and would like to get back into it again. So, you are the very first RU-vid Fishing Video I ran into and want to thank you for explaining how to rig a Salomon/Steelhead pole. I had always used what my Dad provided so it's time for a refresher. You explained it straight forward and simple I appreciate that. I also just watch you & your girlfriend's huge Bass catch, it was awesome!
@@VinTheFishingMan , I went out and bought a G-Loomis Salmon Spinning 8'6" moderate action 10-25 lbs. with a Shimano Sonora 1500 FA reel line Cap is 4-8 lbs. Is that OK with you as a starter to get back into Salmon/Steelhead fishing again. that you for your supportive comments my friend, awesome! Thank you, Rod
Vin, I would like to fish the Platte River in the northern michigan and it sounds like you live in Michigan. Where do you get your gear? I'm completely new to this type of fishing, but very interested in starting. I just was down by the river watching some fisherman (sept. 11) and would like to try. You mentioned types of knots...More info. on that? I really like the video and will look at more of yours now that I'm subscribing.
Thank you for the pointers. I just picked up fishing for a sport and will try your set up here in the Fraser River . When using that type of bait and set up do you normally just let the bait sit at the bottom of the river bed and wait for a bite ? Also I’ve seen people use floats on their lines . Is there a benefit to using them? Thanks for the video again .
You don't use any floats on your salmon/steelhead river set up? Just sinker, bead, swivel, lead, and hook w/synthetic salmon egg? I've found that using a 1/2 oz or so inline sinker makes for less snag and tangle issues, though the drawback is that if you need more weight, instead of swapping the sinker off a snap swivel, you can add some split shot near the top of the leader line.
I don’t get it, so you add the barrels swivel with the snap on your main line with the bead then what is after that I have watched his video countless times and it gets sloppy after that point..
What about a bobber? Im just learning, but have been fishing alot. Haven't caught a thing. Im focusing on salmon right now. How big of a hook do you need for salmon?
Neither, Grand is chocolate milk and raging pretty good. There has not been a good push there all year, just a trickle here and there! Should be good when resides some, going north in the morning! Good luck save me one!!
Hey there boss, i'm planning on going there Sunday morning, me and my bud, were young and still learning this fishing. I could use all the help I can get. Do you mind giving us a call or email to help us out with some info, I know it's weird lol but we are going in blind driving 2 1/2 hours it would really suck to come out empty-handed. My names Eric my buddy's name is Jacob, I really really appreciate if you can help us out, I'll leave you a number or email. It would be really awesome if you went fishing with us I'll pay you to help me lmafooooo anything bro, we've been really dying to hook a fish.
maxima do not make green FC so it has to be the Ultra Green Mono in 10LBS. I like it as well. but Izorline comes in green and looks almost like it and is a bit stronger for 3 bucks less.but you on to a good something.
i used to use izorline. i have since switched the the neon green suffix elite. its great stuff. almost all i use these days. plus its one of the only fishing lines that is sold PERFECTLY coiled on the spool which makes for a great job of reeling it onto your reel
