THANK YOU...but our minn Kota Endura (30 lb thrust) didn't have the black cap you showed. Hmmmm. now wondering if ours was originally assembled wrong. And the nut on ours wasn't that easy to pop back in the hole.
what happens if the black piece and the screw is gone? i was driving with my trolling motor on my boat and i went to turn my motor and the head just turned, would i just be good to get a new screw and nut?
You'll need another screw and you could probably use a few small washers to replace the black piece. That piece can probably be ordered somewhere online, though
When you drop that little nut and it falls into the neverland like I did and can’t find it,,, you can get another at ace hardware. It only goes in one side, doesn’t work on the other. I finally figured that out lol

Thank you! I actually just mounted it over the front edge of the boat. It isn't as stable as I'd like. I'm working on mounting some type of square aluminum block to the bow to make it stable/solid
