Or maybe get it just passable enough, quickly and effectively. Speed face painting over sharing with minimal highlighting. Ok, maybe RUIN is an exaggeration but the main target I have with this video is to present you with a time efficient and elegant way to get the pilot looking good enough for the job required. He needs to look decent and believable in the cockpit. That’s it, the pilot alone will not “sell” this project. I’ll be taking some WIP shots for you but I wouldnt call this milking the WIP style if you follow what I mean. More efficient and something you can rely on in your busy life to get the pilot looking presentable.
The main technique strategy I’ll be using thid time will be “shading” and yes it’s solid. Many artists over time have simple shaded figures to allow for the highlight to then remain. The opposite can also work, add highlights and your shadows can effectively remain.
Adding both is of course cool but may also be over-working the subject, and this is something we really do need to wary of. I’m not kidding, over-work is a real danger in our modern society and it’s presentated to us as the new normal at every opporunity. Let’s keep this a work of joy and fun. A beautiful and cool, finished Camel is my goal. The figure is maybe what, 5% of that finish. As Sensei would chide me, hit 80% Linc and move on to the next fun project.
Let’s keep on target Red 5!
