@@kernracing7677 is that individually for each shop or all three combined? And is that how much you take home for yourself or is that how much the businesses make
Hey brother can you please do me a favor and list all the top common tires sizes that you must have at all times in the shop and how many of those tires should I typically have on hand. Please and thank you
I have run a tire shop for 43 years! It's no easy job, it's no 9 to 5 job either, I spend a lot of time in the shop behind the scenes doing paperwork, research, patching used tires that I got in that day so I can sell them the next day, it's a very repetitive job, you WILL wear yourself out physically if you stick with it a long time like I did. Did I make money? yes, did I get rich? hell no! Did I make a lot of casual friends? yes. Would I do it again if I had a chance to start over? NO! It's not a lazy man's job by any means. If anyone has any questions you can ask me too. This fellow did say some correct things, but you would need more inventory than I see in his shop in my area.
You need to have a hands on position to some degree, I am always the last person to do a final inspection on any used tires we buy, remember it's all about safety and staying out of court. It's really hard to find good help that you can be confident in that they tightened someone's lugs tight enough or put the right tire on a vehicle that was correct. For me I just need to be there, and down the road when I retire I will probably never go back, I don't want to hear or see the jams that someone got themselves into because they didn't listen to me when I trained them.
agree with everything he said. I have 20 years under my belt and im 34. if I had no shop would I do it again? no. I can name at least 50 businesses that I rather do for living. but im way deep in so its the best thing for me. can you run a shop and not be there ? no. this is an active business. you sell new tires in morning, keep the old tires, later on during day you sell the used ones to somebody else. Can you track that ? no. the person who you will leave there will keep the money since used tires are untrackable. and there will be many cases that will be a "every case is different" so how is your crew going to know if there will be times "every case is different"? they wont know! and then what happens? put 16 on a 16.5 rim (explodes) a semi rolls in with no air in tire and been rolling it for miles and then says to shop "put air in tire please and then what "explodes" ever heard a semi tire explode? like 4 m80s. you gotta be there when its your shop and that is the worst thing about the business
Hey, thanks for the great advice. I took a lot of notes and will be tuning in more often as I go. I’m planning on starting a New and Used tire business within the next year. I’ve looked online for clues on inventory and stuff but honestly I always a dead end and end up on a spam site lol I feel like I have most of the info I need but the New and Used tire dealers. Can you guide me in that area. I’m eager to learn anything I can, I’m putting my all into this.
new tire dealers are very easy to find because when you open your shop they will find you. they have reps and there job is to find you and sell to you as much as they can. to me one of the the biggest time wasters is reps calling or coming over because there is one rep in each dealer for your area , now picture 10 dealers 10 reps calling you visiting you every week. as for used tires its the work. your job is to find the used tires. that's the work. the best way to do it is having many small streams of connects of used tires. one guy works at small auto shop that changes tires, he keeps used cause no one cares for them, he comes sells them to you. another guy works at bmw dealer as auto tech , tire guys change tires but he keeps tires because he kissis managers butt, he comes to you and sells you tires. used tires distribution company that gets containers in from other countrys and they sell to the used tire shops. those can be found by online cause they will market themselves on google ect. they usually want you to buy at least 100 but sometimes they give you wack sizes so you got to befriend them and then you can choose what you want and don't want when it comes to sizes. many sources is the best way to get your used tires.
Thanks for the great videos you made..it helps alot for somebody wants to involve on this business...how should i do a market study for this field or do i have to??thanks in advance..
Hey great video one question tho launch u started with that machine do you still recommend it am.looking to purchase one an a tyre balancer any advice would be great
Brother! How can I find hub rings? I run a tyre shop in australia and I want to stock these. Wheel nuts as well so I can get the job done right. Thanks for all your information you share. Has helped me a tonne!
All i want to know is are you profitable . I been working NT B and it's all about money . they barely use hub rings and don't come back.and they sell wheels too. they have awesome equipment though
Can I ask you what state you are located in I am in my mid-30s and I have been wanting to open a tire shop since I was 20 but do not have the experience and was just wondering if you do any mentoring to help get the experience to open a tire shop I am in Texas thank you and thank you for the time you put into your video
You are an usual guy for sure. I disagree with you on OEM vs. replica (ie BMW E63 M6 forged rims are the same quality as 18" replicas) but these type education videos you make are much easier to watch than your odd reality show videos which IMO discredits you ..
I'm in the game 12 years, I have an opportunity to buy my uncles tyre shop, really considering it. I know nothing about running a business, but fuck it.
DON'T TIE UP MONEY BY STOCKING A BUNCH OF RIMS. KEEP THE CASH FLOW MOVING. AMERICAN RACING WOULD BE A GOOD SUPPORT SYSTEM FOR YOU. YOU MIGHT WANT TO PUT YOUR PHONE NUMBER IN THE ABOVE SCRIPT. YOUR AN HONEST MAN AND PEOPLE WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE YOU. I WAS IN THE BUSINESS FOR OVER FORTY YEARS. YOU HAVE DONE WELL BY INVESTING YOUR TIME AND SWEAT. I WISH YOU THE BEST. CARROLL TIRE IS ALSO RESPONSIVE TO YOUNG DEALERS.
@@oharrellcoins5553 yes, in my area (eastern Pa.) that is reasonable. My trend I follow is that the more I spend to buy a tire, the more I sell it for.
it depends on the size and the tread life. on 14s I do everything 35 no matter if its 95% life because the 14s are cheap new, smaller 15s with high tread $40. taller 15s 40 to $45. small 16s 40 but suv 16s you can do 50 no problem with good tread life. for me, moving so much volume I don't really look at how much I get the tires anymore I look at size and tread life. many times I get tires for 15 bucks but sell for 75, 100 each, hard sizes to get like wide 20's. its an eerday thang u know!
Yow Amar how do I know and measure the hub of a aftermarket rim, I know the size hub on my car but not the aftermarket rim, is it mark on the rim inside?
Hey amar how do you feel about becoming a tire installer for tirerack.... is it like selling your soul to the devil? Lol I feel like you cant compete. Their prices are my wholesalers prices.
