Elite Series Pro and Guide Darold Gleason explains the boat lanes and buoy system on Toledo Bend Lake. Learn how to safely navigate north and south along both sides of the lake (Texas and Louisiana) and east/west to cross over. He takes off from the SRA launch site at Cypress Bend Park (the most common launch for tournaments). As a reminder, Main boat lanes (usually North/South) are generally about 100′ wide. Secondary boat lanes (usually East/West) are generally 30′ - 40′ wide. According to SRA, La lanes are safely navigable down to the new low lake level of 168 MSL. Caution should be used if the lake falls below that level and always be mindful and on the lookout for floaters.

We will still have a few go missing after storms or water fluctuations. But they do a good job of replacing them. It’s still best to be cautious out there until you learn your way around.

Such a great time to be there. Shad spawn early will be going crazy.

Can you speak to the levels that are safe to run those lanes? I've seen various numbers on websites but with the lake level currently around 168 are all the lanes still navigable or shoudd some be avoided?

A lot of that has changed since I was a kid. I don't remember the lake having that many buoys

Make one for the north end on the Texas side, LOL. The markers are a joke up there.

Ya it’s much harder to get around up there for sure. Just be cautious while you learn it.

@@daroldgleasonfishing5308 LOL ...No sir. Just wanted to ask. You just never know. We come down every March from St. Louis and fish. I have been fishing the lake since i have been 16 and I am 55 now. Love the lake and a lot of success. This group has had several 8s and 9s. one 11 lb 14 oz a couple of years ago. Along with a ton of 7s. Last year there was a little, but you really had to hunt for it. Really liked the video on the boat lanes. Great Job. Good luck this year on the pro circuit.

Just got back from Toledo Bend. We whacked them. There is coontail moss in the back of Housen. Plenty on the North side west of Jacks -944 .

Glad to hear you guys had a good trip. They’ll get around any shallow vegetation around the spawn usually.
