Hey Group, I’ll be throwing more instructional Horsemanship videos up on the side channel “Barely Survival” but wanted to see what y’all thought of this. So far, I think most are here for the survival vids. Hope everyone is well out there.m, we’ll be filming around the horses for the next month so if you’ve any videos you think I should make throw them here in the comments and we’ll see what we can do. Take care and as always,.. until Next Time, Bob Hansler
Hello Bob! I’d like to see the progress of a trail ride, from starting point to setting off the next day. Showing bits of the ride, breaks to water yourselves and the horses, care of horses for the night, where/how tack and saddle r stowed for the night, cooking, what’s cooked, bedding put down (what’s used for a pillow, seeing how it was not mentioned n the video what is necessary for the trail ride) a bit of the Texas night sounds, be it silent or animal noises would be cool, what’s for breakfast, packing up, reading the horses for another day. I know this video will be longer, or it can be broken up n parts for those who don’t like long videos, me, I’d love and enjoy the whole video! Thank u
Hello Bob! I sooo want to thank u for the correct way to saddle a horse, I have ridden quite a bit, had my own horse for a time. I was shown how to, I was watched while I did it, I was never told why or what for, there were no corrections. Watching u shows me how badly I was taught. I truly appreciate u showing me the proper way to saddle a horse, but mostly, making sure the horse is cared for properly and is comfortable!!! Ur the BEST! Thank u
Hey Bob please visit Indonesia, many tropical jungle to explore (and if you have Indonesia on your video, you will see our fellow Indonesian will be flocking to your channel) The jungle that i reccomend are Kalimantan and Papua
RU-vid is at its best when random people get to share some form of art, or instruction, you can learn almost anything here cuz some kind soul put up a well explained tutorial. Thanks for this sir
I love this channel so much that I just learned not only to saddle a horse. But to even Ride it. Heck I even moved to Philippines and lived in a place where I'm free to ride a horse. And I can just sit and Relax with my horse by my side.
You’re awesome man. You’re literally the first person I subbed to on RU-vid when I joined. I’ve been taking horse riding lessons for three weeks now and I knew I had to watch this video when I saw it in my feed. U know ur crap man! Thx
I've never been around horses but I'm interested in trail riding and pack horses. I really appreciate this kind of straight forward instructions, I'll keep referring to this video for a long while coming
You have a very beautiful horse. I was dragged by a pony when I was 9. Been afraid of these powerful animals since then but still admire them from a distance. Thank you for showing how to care for them!
Been running groups and riding trail longer and further than anyone I know. I train horses and riders. I have no such stories. Going to keep out of that club at all costs.
@@BobHansler I woke up with my first dog day before the back of the horse. Your dog is cool. Mine is the same with quarter Border Collie thrown in. I consider them the same on any given day. Wrong dog first! Take care animal lover.
Wau, great that you know a lot about nature and animals from dogs and horses. I have so many videos viewed. it is a pleasure to follow you and you are so positive. although I only watched about 2 years and I've learned quite a lot from your videos. it is good for us to thank God that we live in the mornings and evenings. i came across your video today 4 years ago and because of that i wanted to tell you how important it is to rejoice in every day.
I really didn't know the effort that went into saddling a horse! Majestic creatures hope to ride one someday, their mass and power scares me at the moment, but when one walks by i'm always in awe.
Well done! More horse videos please! Been around horses all my life. I work with horses every day, but I love watching and learning new things from other horse people. Thanks for sharing....as always! Good to see ya brother.
thank you so much for this vid. pls remind yourvideographer to pull back just a bit to show what you are talking about and where it is exactly for us newbies. for instance when lining up the blanket to the horses shoulder you were cut off as you stsrted to trace down where it should go. thanks so much for doing this, it is interesting and you make it seem easy after watching it a few times. oh, and i love that horse!!!!
I just started watching your vids within the last couple of days. Been an outdoors kinda guy all of my life, hunting fishing, infantry etc. Although I'm in Iowa the skills you show still can be used in SE Iowa. Thank you! That being said, after watching several vids I came across the med update vids. You have my sympathy and especially my congratulations! Overcoming your problems and fears says a lot about your character, the kind of person one would like to have as a close friend. Keep the faith and the powder dry! May you and your family be blessed.
You have helped me see what my brother did when he did this, hes 12 yrs older and had a lifetime before i was old enough to appreciate or understand the lifestyle...
Great video Bob. I miss my old Mare, she was born and raised in the rough country of Carrizozo, White Oaks NM. My Dad bought her to hunt in the mountains. She was sure footed as they come. But being raised in lion country, she was always snorting and nickering..lol. Testing for scent and letting herself be known. Terrible for hunting, but absolutely the best for rocky country. I have no more horses now, still have my saddle. Can't make myself give it away. I wonder how many here know about... Left Brain, Right Brain... it would make an interesting topic for young horsemen. Cheers Bob.
@@BobHansler Glad to hear it! I know that a lot of work goes into these videos. Thank you and your beautiful camera operator. I'm praying for you and family. Be of good courage.
Glad to see you doing better. Love learning survival and how to live off the land thru you. I’m in San Antonio and can’t wait for the lockdown over to start practicing some of you lessons. Because of you and your family I want to explore nature more. Thank you and stay safe. I will not let my disability define me.
Old feather head and I still get out on the trail from time to time. He likes to strut the canyon ridge lines. He always gets that far away look in his eyes.... always wonder what he is thinking as we go along deciding whether to peck or not to peck.
There's so much good going on here: in particular all the ways to check things that could cause the horse irritation or 'wear a hole' in them; also reaching for the cinch with the left hand the way you did is safest. A couple things I'll offer to consider changing: I can see the halter is tied above the loop, forming an overhand knot which can either work loose or in a pull-back get jammed so tight it can't be untied. A proper halter knot should be tied around the loop, forming a sheet bend. Secondly, with the cinching, heaving it tight with those sharp pulls can't be at all pleasant for the horse. Pulling it snug smoothly in stages is just as effective, doesn't risk pinches, and is far more considerate to the horse. (which you've shown in other steps that you care about) :~)
I love how the horse loves u. U take good care of the horse i see. Thanks for the video and prepping me for the end of world organic travel. This was Part of my training. Lol. ✌
I've been watching your videos for tips to catching my pet snake! You are very informative. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. You might consider helping people trap pet snakes! LOL! I know I am going crazy trying to find mine!
Great video and how to Bob, thank you! I don't mind seeing these kinds of videos on here at all. I try to soak up anything that I don't know that interests me and I like to go over things I do know. Maybe do a video on how to care for your horse and its feet on the trail?
I'm fixated on that concho and tie at the front right of the saddle that keeps getting caught under the saddle when you swing it over. You never seem to notice it and pull it out
@@yeeeeyee I don’t understand. I am an Eagle, have been for 18 years at least. Still scouting and giving back to the program that gave me so much. The program is available to “non-scouts” but.... you are a scout and should endeavor to remember that more often.
@@BobHansler I am asking if there are programs for people over 18 and not currently going through the ranks of boy scouts. I know I am a scout and proud to be an eagle scout... I thought BTSR was a boy scout camp and could only do the high adventure programs if you were there for summer camp.
@@yeeeeyee BTSR is open year-round. It is a High Adventure Camp that facilitates a variety of programs both during the Summer camp season and beyond. All ages are welcome as the organization encourages a continued role in scouting throughout a lifetime. High Adventure Programs don’t exist without older Scouts and Veterans showing folks the more advanced concepts regarding the outdoors. Doors are always open. I’m there now.... no one under the age of 18 around for miles and miles.
Hey Bob, I've just discovered your channel and I'm enjoying the videos. Wanted your advice on a good all purpose knife that is tough enough for all jobs in the woods. I see you have a good knife. Thanks, Robert in South Georgia
I'm curious, you didn't brush the chest or legs of the horse. Any particular reason for not doing so? I would have thought those areas would be affected by ticks or thorns. The horse seemed to enjoy the brushing anyway. I had a couple of riding lessons when I was much younger. Riding around an indoor arena I recall the horse kept riding very close to the wall and I had to keep tugging the rein to steer it away, otherwise I wouldn't have any knee caps left. 😂 Another rider was paired with what seemed to be a cart horse. I assume it was because he was a little on the large side himself. He kept flicking it with a riding crop trying unsuccessfully to get it to move, with the sweat pouring out of him. 😂 It made us laugh. I moved away from the area so I didn't have more than a few lessons. Going on a horse trail sounds as though it might be a lot of fun, if you don't have to do it for a living. I remember watching a John Wayne film where he made his horse walk in reverse. I didn't know horses could be trained to do that and I burst out laughing with delight. Anyway, nice video, I enjoyed it. Stay safe and well. God bless you and your family. Steven.
The chest rarely wears, typically a saddle that has shifted and tightened the breast collar. Legs should be inspected, but there is no practical reason for brushing them. Riding through brush will get it done quick enough.
lol I didnt know how to ride till I joined the SCA. All I wanted to do was beat someone with a base ball bat and got involved in exercising a friend's horses. Evidently, if you shovel enough stalls, feed, water and lead them around enough you get to learn how to ride them eventually. Sure is fun though. Nothing like a horse wanting to run under you. Just grip with your knees and lean forward with the wind in your hair. So, if you ever want to get on a horse owners good side, muck some stalls.
watching that video right now! You know what Dr Lee, I'm going to go out of my way to be just a bit kinder tomorrow, and that's a promise and hopefully a seed.
