hi Chris thanks for being an inspiration!😊I’m a Nurse as well and planning to buy a house this year near Welly city. It would be greatly appreciated if you could share some advise regarding property investments. What book should I read and how to start?🙂 Thank you so much! Btw, no more ubereats for me 😂
First of all, keep up with the no ubereats orders. Well done! If you haven't read these, read Rich Dad Poor Dad and The Richest Man in Babylon, they're very inspirational when it comes to real estate investing. I have a video called, How to buy your first house in New Zealand, my advice will all be there. Good luck! :)
A dramatic lifestyle change to your finances straight away will be difficult, but a small change week by week you will adjust to it easier. There were two first home buyers I know who finally got their house. Orginally they wanted 3 bdr, and 5 mins from work no fixer upers. The reality was their deposit was not aligned to what they can afford. 6 months passed as the property continued to increase in prices they were being priced out even further. What happened? Compromise, 2 bdr room until 15 mins from work with a bit of work to be done on the house. Unconditional. The other one bought 3 bdr 30 mins from work, a nicer house. Unconditional as well, 100k over asking price, borrowed 70k from parents and maxed out their loan. Those were the sacrifices. Considering that most of the world live in appartments, and commutes 1hr to work each day, these a very small sacrifice for them in terms of travel. Now they can focus on their mortgage rather than paying off someone elses one.
Love your videos Chris! My partner and I are in the situation that you were in about 5-6 years ago. We recently bought a townhouse in Auckland and planning to keep saving and buying our second property in 2-3 years. Before we never considered renting out our spare room but now we’re thinking to do that because of your videos! Renting out our spare room would save us about $200 in mortgage each week. An interesting fact is that my partner is Filipino and I’m Chinese! We hope to be like you two in a few years but who knows where the housing market is headed... Definitely open to purchasing the second property outside of Auckland though, so that may help
Yeah do it! You’ll be saving 10k a year if you rent it out. Also, if you have a spare room, you end up accumulating things you don’t need because you have the space to store it. When the numbers are right, you can still buy an investment property now, but I would think yeah, definitely outside of Auckland. Good luck to you and your partner. You guys are doing great! 😊
@@ChrisQuimbo we were originally gonna use it for an office/study room, but can probably move that into our own room. (The townhouse is still being built so unsure of the spaces). Completion in June so fingers crossed! We are living with parents atm so saving an extra $400 a week in rent so that’s a good situation anyway :) thanks for your response and support!
