I have started using it however those videos have not come around yet. I hope to integrate them into my regular uploads as it is just part of my day today. So I will be showing some of the different things however I was thinking about doing a compilation video of many of the different things that I cook with it while traveling.

LOL at least you should get reported for shopping… I personally like it because I couldn’t even get gas receipts and for each gas receipt I get 25 points. That means that I am adding up quickly while scanning LOL

I have seen these at the dollar tree or Dollar General and Walmart. I’m not sure where I purchased these but it was one of those three stores

Walmart also has small great value brand serving bags of pasta for $0.30 each so you get three personalized servings for a $0.90, I like buying those because they're perfect size just for me, plus I save an extra $0.10 😉

@@BunnyPlaysHere it's a fairly new thing they've only been doing it for a few months here and it is great value brand. HEB grocery stores are also doing it with their name brand product, you can get elbow, penne, shells and other small pastas.

Your kind words are all that I need thank you! My goal Has always been just a share of the adventures with others and hope to inspire them. Clearly you were already on the right track if you were envisioning yourself doing some thing like this. But don’t get discouraged just because you do not currently have a van. They’re still adventurous to be had in your own backyard. Remember that there’s always a starting place that is attainable. We don’t always have to have everything figured out all at once.

Well I am glad you found me! I like to share a lot of different adventures where people can see what’s out there in the world waiting to be discovered. However when I transitioned into traveling in my van I also started sharing tips for how I make it happen in such a tiny space. I have been enjoying testing out the smaller fridge. I like the coloration of it a bit more for me personally. However the larger fridge does have advantages. For example it has two isolated sections that you can use for different kinds of storage. Also I could carry larger items such as 2 L sodas. Not that I want to 2 L soda but the fact is it’s that tall. However I do also like the fact that with this one the shelf really does make a difference. And the other fridge will not go to waste it will be a part of my parents build whenever they start their’s.

Thank you! I know that my food bin is still a bit I have a cutter however I have a lot of things in there which otherwise we’re asshole. Being able to break down boxes was the single greatest accomplishment that I ever discovered LOL and it’s so silly but it makes so much sense

I really like the videos of the Van pantry. I do the same with the pasta’s. Being in a minivan space is sometimes just painfully limited. But I have learned to find nook’s and crannies to stuff things in. For my long term pantry I found that Walmart sells canned meat called Keystone. Chicken, beef, pork and ground meat. One can is 2 servings. It’s a tad bit expensive but the shelf life is 5 years. The pork makes great bbq sandwiches, the chicken for soups, and the ground meat I like for pasta and tacos. Just season to your taste. When I leave home base I carry 2 of chicken, 2 or pork and 4 ground beef. I like having them on hand for when I run out of my fresh meats. I have not perfected my plan yet I am working on it. But I like to carry a minimum of 14 days of food, plus the extra for if I get stuck somewhere. That plan is hard to achieve because I also carry 14 gallons of water. I just purchased a water filter that hopefully will help. Anyway this long comment is because I really liked this video. Because it shows we can eat well even in a tiny space, it just takes thoughtful planning!

I also purchased the canned chicken. It is very helpful and can be fixed in a variety of different ways which makes it a hot commodity in my dry food bin. I always keep a few cans of bad as well as some tuna and use them periodically for different things. I like the pouch tuna because I can grab it before a hike and make a quick wrap or I can just take it with me in case I need a snack along the way so yes I agree on that

One of the other things that I do is I carry meals that I don’t have to cook and instead all I have to do is heat water those are very handy. My favorite brand is mountain house in those and it’s very nice whenever you are in a pinch and need something quick. But I also really like the flavor and often find that if I want something that is delicious and filling those make a very nice dinner that feels like they have enough ingredients to justify me having “cooked”

@@BunnyPlaysHere ohh I love the mountain house freeze dried foods. My minivan is a Dodge Grand Caravan so I have those empty wells where the seats were. I have one for my medical supplies and sterile water and the other one is full of hiking/camping food. I figure in a pinch one a day would work lol. The only thing of mountain house I did not care for was the ice cream. Like the space ice cream. The texture was just to strange for me.

Lady another great video. I haven't been in Dollar General in years I shop dollar store most of the time definitely gonna see if there's a Dollar General where I'm living now. I just did this I don't know if it's gonna work but I think it will I am getting a Gmail email account just 4 stores reward emails this way it won't fill up the regular emails so I'm putting my Kroger, dollar store, any rewards type of store will go on that email only this way I can always just go there to look instead of trying to find different folders on different emails I have a lot of email addresses for different things and I try to keep them separate but I think this is gonna work fantastic. Don't sleep on the dollar stores for home decor pieces that easily translate to your vehicle, especially Dollar General. Example - they have rugs with rubber backing in various sizes that are easy to keep clean, machine washable and great to keep spills from bleeding through. I've bought runners and cut them down to put underneath my cat litter boxes - genius!

I agree one of my blankets that I have as a throw is actually from there. The only problem is a lot of the things that I find at least at my local stores are typically beach themed… I’m not sure why everything needs a beach theme LOL

Absolutely! Get a small space every account so bulky cardboard boxes don’t have any room in the space LOL whenever I first started out it took me a while to figure out this would work best but now I’m super happy that I have not to mention by using the reusable bags I can get a lot of mileage off a single use plastic bag that otherwise would just be going to waste after one.

As for keeping warm in the van I have truly been putting the van through the test on some of these cold nights through the upper part of New Mexico and Arizona. I have a lot to say I just have to get to the campsite where I can pull things out and show them off

I know that a lot of times convenience can come from larger box stores however there’s something to having your local grocery store in an area have support also in addition the farmers markets and the fruit stands really are the best place to get great produce. I will always support local economy when possible

Absolutely. I like to use common sense approaches to many of the things that I do instead of making things more difficult. I find that when you use the commonsense approach you tend to get a lot more accomplished a lot less time.

Hi Bunny, An FYI for you as I carry glass in my van, both dishes and with food in them. How I keep them safe is I either wrap them in terry dish towels or weave the towels between the glass items. Much like you would do if you were moving a household. I've not had anything broken so far. Just be careful that either cloth of layers of something like paper towels is protecting each piece of glass, especially from other glass. Another this is I put butter sticks in small lock top plastic or glass containers. That way I can carry my favorite butter. Safe travels Young Lady.

I certainly agree it is right on up there. But I would have to say that by far my favorite investment for my van still is my ridge monkey LOL it was the hardest thing ever to attain and that’s probably why I hold it in such high regard LOL in fact I ordered another one that is slightly larger that should be at base camp by the time that I return… Got a wait on that import though

B, this has been so helpful! In California if you're on EBT (CalFresh/food stamps) they will match your spending at the Farmers Market. So if you spend $10 they'll give you $10 more to spend there. very cool. That way it's win-win.

Did not know about Fetch, and yes, I save my receipts to check when I get home:) Will have to try, but a bit cumbersome with apps and such, as a senior, I ask my daughters for help at times:) Great shopping trip! A lot of times the things that I like this are the last thing that we think of because until we’re actually in the space it doesn’t even cross your mind. I know I have had several things that popped up along the way that made me think kind of after the fact well this could’ve been easier but I made it complicated LOL so I’m glad to share this and I hope it helps you to start considering your options when it comes to your future adventures

Great topic, super helpful. I haven't done much shopping at Dollar General, but now I know what I've been missing out on, I can see how this is going to save me money on my travels. Plus it seems they're everywhere. As I also do most of my traveling solo, I'm a big fan of the single serving size products too. There rarely seems to be room in the fridge for leftovers.

Dollar General seems to be popping up and literally every tiny town across the south at least. So I find that by working with it I can more efficiently travel versus having longer delays in between possible stops. And their app system with their coupons is very legit. In fact if you are familiar with Instagram they have entire Instagram post to show you how to save even more money.

I think the fridge concept is different for each individual person and there is no one right answer. It really depends on what you’re wanting to do and how you’re wanting to store things. I know for me personally I didn’t have one for a very long time and now that I do it feels like such a great luxury item

Yay! And said that I wanted to start sharing videos that were practical for people. I have lots of fun adventures but unless someone understand the true behind the scenes part of how those adventurous happen it seems unattainable. It’s things like this that truly do save the money so that I can go and do more things. Think about it this way every time you scan a receipt you get a minimum of 25 points 25 points starts adding up pretty quickly and there you go that’s already a tank of gas LOL

FYI: Dollar Tree price has increased from 1.00 to 1.25... atleast where IAm. I'd imagine the increase will happen everywhere, eventually. I didn't know stores still provided plastic bags. So much is not consistent state to state😏. Thankhz for sharing Bunny. Wholeness n Essence of Love ((-;

Yes they’re slowly making the transition to higher prices everywhere unfortunately despite recording record profits last year. It’s really sad that they’re passing that on to the consumer and that’s pricing some of the items that you typically would get there completely out. A lot of states I travel to still do plastic bags while others do not. I kind of always keep a regular bag with me just in case but in the states that do you have them and make sure that I get many uses out of them such as recycling them to make trash bags.

I don’t think that any of us have all the answers as we first start out and as we continue to change and move forward we start to find things that are more helpful to us along the way. The power station is extremely efficient. By far I use a lot of power and I know that so I have a combination of different power sources to get me through. But the main power station having 1000 W is super helpful

Absolutely! I think that both of those are super handy. I also belong to a couple of groups where you can go and look up Instagram purchase suggestions for Dollar General LOL if you have a basecamp this can be helpful for finding items that you might be more than one out but in a van it isn’t really super helpful… However they will tell you how to use your coupon to get free stuff LOL

Just remember though fetch you can download and scan any receipt. I get 25 points every time I put gas in my tank that adds up a lot as you’re driving

Don't know why my bell isn't red when some of the channels come in. Anyway I had no idea Ragu had sauce in a bag. Need to check that out. I am trying not to do carbs but like you said some times you may get stuck somewhere and your fresh food may be out. I carry tuna in foil packs and some canned chicken or beef. This was a great vlog, lots of very helpful tips. Where did you find the bags with the measurements on them? Been working on the camper finally daughter showed up yesterday and helped move the bed back to drivers side and carry mattress back in. Was waiting for it to warm up a little bit so I can get back out and do more. It was perfect when I found your vlog in the side bar :)

It really is interesting to find all of the things like the Ragu in a pouch. I find that sometimes whenever you find something it just makes sense and this was one of those. I always look for a quick fixes like this just in case and also to reduce glass. I also use canned chicken from time to time or pouch tuna and find it to be very handy especially for my grab and go days when I’m hiking.

Awesome! It really has been super beneficial. Typically I end up cashing in my fetch points for Amazon points because I order a lot of things due to the dropbox shipping that they have. But you might be surprised how many things that you end up accruing overtime Just doing your every day shopping. And when that translates into points that can work toward other things that is super handy.

7:07 dollar general has a private label as well, it’s called “Clover Valley” and all “generics” are made by one of the big name brand companies. Dollar general, for example has a contract with barilla pasta, that is why it is the main brand they carry. It is also who makes their generic “clover valley” brand pasta. Their instant potatoes are made by Idaho Spuds. Etc etc.

Van and fridge tetris...games all vanlifers play! I also carry pouches of tuna, chicken and salmon to add to pasta, rice, salads, etc. Tubes of tomato paste, minced garlic, minced ginger and various herbs can add so much flavor without taking up a lot of space. I will admit that my fridge is a lot bigger than yours, but it's almost always packed to the gills too!

I started out actually with the bigger fridge LOL that’s the interesting part of it… But I was asked pretty continuously if I would consider something smaller and I understand why a lot of people don’t need the larger fridge for just one person. I happen to have two fridges so put this one in and I must say that I actually like this one better for the overall fit LOL however when it comes to that Tetris it is a challenge…

I have gone my entire life and not Thought about removing things from the package like this. It would make so much more sense when there’s not very much left for me to do that but typically I just leave it in the box until the box is empty. I end up with a bunch of extra boxes that makes me think I have way more food that I actually do.

I think your dry bin items could be put in a similar plastic bin with a cover. This will protect your food from ill visitors that might get into Van and eat and damage your food stuffs.

I have tried this previously but I really didn’t like the bulk of the containers. I ended up having about half an hour things that I carry with me currently. And for a long stands in the desert for a while I’m not trying to go in and out of town that doesn’t work for me. I know that lady BugOut use his nose and for her set up at work so much more efficiently however. So I don’t think there’s any right or wrong way to do it LOL

Great tips, I even put ground beef into those ziptop baggies because it takes up less space than the tray it comes in although this might be too fiddly for you on the road. Here in the UK we have Nectar which is from Sainsburys which has partner links so you are always getting points. I used £32 of points on my grocery shop yesterday. Do you get anything with your roadside assistance? I know mine gives me discounts for restaurants as long as I show my membership card at the time I order my meal 20% is not to be sniffed at lol.

I don't know about the area you are in right now, but the Dollar Tree here in Texas, just went up to $1.25 so it is no longer a dollar for every item. Ugh. So now Dollar General or Family Dollar are cheaper than the Dollar Tree. Thank you for all the shopping tips.

They are doing that nationwide. It makes some things less expensive still but a lot of things are now teetering on the clothes if not more. It’s unfortunate. I know that they have mentioned that they were losing money however they recorded record profits last year I think that’s where catalyst agreed comes in the play… It’s up trickling down to regular people
