This Microsoft Teams tutorial will demonstrate how to schedule a chat message in Microsoft Teams. Great video. Very helpful. The only limitation seems to be that you cannot schedule a message to a recipient(s) with whom you have not yet initiated a conversation. So if you don’t already have an active chat thread in Teams you can’t schedule a message.

Hi there, you are correct. Using the workflow app as outlined in this video only allows you to schedule a message with a user who you've already initiated a chat. To schedule a new message with a user who you have not initiated a chat with, you'd have to build the flow directly in Power Automate and use the delay until, create chat and post a message to a chat actions. Hi there, to create a recurring message, you would need to build the flow directly in Microsoft Power Automate. You would need to build a scheduled flow and set the trigger to the date / time / frequency in which you would like the message to be posted. Hope this helps!

Absolutely! It would need to be done directly in Power Automate! Unfortunately, the workflow interface doesn't allow you to incorporate recurrence.

Did you make this function yourself? I just tried to search for "Schedule a message" in Power Automate but have only come across "Schedule a reply" Thanks!

Hi there, I did not create this app myself. The app is a Teams extension pushed out by Microsoft. You won't find it in Power Automate but rather need to search for it in the Teams app store and/or using the messaging extension button in chats and channel posts. Thank you, this was great! What I really would like to do is schedule recurring scheduled chat message in Teams. So, after set-up, I would want the specified message to be sent via teams every other week. Is this possible?

If you have an excel with specific dates, times and people names, could this be automated similarly? each receiving a separate chat (all the same text) at a specific day/time.

Hi there, unfortunately you would have to cancel the message and send a new one using this method. Microsoft replaced the functionality outlined in the video with this version: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X1z192QON2c.html - This approach allows you to edit messages. Hi there, to create a recurring message you would need to create a custom flow in Microsoft Power Automate. It's not currently possible to create recurring flows using this functionality. Hope this helps and thanks for watching

Hello. Thanks for the video. I see the 3 dots below the compose box for individual users and even for group chats. However it seems that the 3 dots only appear on chats and group chats for users within my organization. I have several chats and group chats with users outside of my organization. Is there a way see the 3 dots with these chats as well?

Hi there, using the approach outlined in this video, it is not possible at this time. Microsoft actually just announced that they are adding this functionality to Microsoft Teams directly (without using Power Automate). This should be released in 1-2 months. That functionality will likely allow scheduling messages to be sent to group chats. Hi there, Microsoft actually just announced that they are brining the ability to schedule messages into Microsoft Teams directly. I believe this was scheduled for an end of year release into general availability. It is supposed to be released into Public Preview in the coming weeks. Wow, the more I am using Microsoft Teams, more I am hating it. Why do I need to see RU-vid video for this feature. Can't MS just copy Slack's way of scheduling message? Just copy what works flawlessly, don't reinvent the wheel.
