Lets face it the biggest design flaw in the Traxxas 2wd Differential design is the fact that is has NO o-rings of any kind sealing the outdrives. Also the fitment of the diff itself allows fluid to leak out very easily.
Here is my video showing you how I sealed the differential in my Traxxas 2WD Stampede. Will also work for the slash rustler bandit etc.
I show you how to counter-sink & and o rings & washers to the outdrives as well as totally seal it from leaking :).

I stuff that diff with red tacky grease and let it rip! I have 0 issues and car runs straight lines, no TSM.

How does the glue cure when you have the oil mixed in with it in the differential that kind of goes against putting everything up getting all the oil off their thanks for the glue will stick had not finished video maybe you figured out

The stock diff is not meant to hold fluid, its by design. Just needs a bit of lube and off you go. Be nice to see a seal diff in these out of the box, but oh well.

I just use red automotive grease in mine because I don’t have traxxas grease, I figure something is better then nothing

Nothing but problems with hot racing sealed diff I bought 2 of theM & the idler pins don’t stay secure and they move around causing the gears in the diff to bind, I’m gonna try Integy’s new diff

Why u don't use grease instead?

Grease does not allow me to tune the differential. By changing the viscocity of the silicone differential oil I can change how the truck drives, and puts down power. You have a much greater level of adjust-ability using differential fluid. If you look at basically any other differential on the market, even the other 2wd versions you will see that most of them are sealed units. Grease is grease. By changing the viscosity of the fluid in the diff I can change how much slip there is in the diff. If i put a 3,000,000cst it will almost lock the diff simply by using oil. Where if I run a 5000cst it will feel like nothing is in there, like a light grease... Changing the performance drastically just by changing the oil. This allows you to tailor your truck to your driving situation. Basically the thinner the oil the easier the truck will 'diff out' . On a track and in different traction situations different setups are needed... Hope that helps LOL Keep on BaShIn!¡

Hot Racing now offers an aluminum-bodied sealed diff with a steel ring gear for the Traxxas 2wd transmissions.

Their are no o-rings because it was not to be used as a sealed differential. Its the same diff in a lot of Traxxas cars and trucks.

A mil is not a millimeter, it is a thousandth of an inch. PTFE is made of .... PTFE.

Just spend the 20 bucks for a sealed diff

the reason there is no o-rings is because that diff uses grease not oil and also that "ROTARY" is garbage lol.. must be Canadian haha

I am guessing you never heard of mods. This a poor man's method of having a sealed diff that will hopefully last a race.
