I was very close to throwing my i/o shield out the window. I hate how none of the build videos ever show the little things you actually come across when its your first time. Like flash bios updates, shield issues, , etc thanks for this video

Even after the video im throwing mine away. After two hours I have decided its not worth it. We as customers just have to make sure we stop buying these garbage motherboards the io shield should come already on.

The way this man's working on the i/o shield and board feels eerily relatable!

Thank you so much, for both explaining the problem with the grounding straps (which I just discovered now after plugging everything in and discovering that some of my my usb slots were being blocked) and for the extremely timely reminder to walk away from it when frustrated ( which occurred as I was calculating how much work I'd have to undo to fix it). I am now much calmer that I have a better idea how to fix it properly without having to reinvent the wheel for the small details.

I had a similar frustration with a cheap IO shield by ASUS on my B450M-A. It was my first time building so thought it was just me. Seeing your experience was kind of validating to see. Also, genius move to build on a lazy susan: I'm going to have to do that next time around.

Yeah it is incredible difficult, crazy that people who make the PC towers are not able to do something nice and easy to adjust .

I really like these quick tip videos I learn so much so quickly. I like turning off my computer with on touch. I would never have known about the metal straps. Thanks for your time and knowledge, Sincerely A computer novice Don

I was about 5 minutes in to installing it when I looked up this video. The IO shield is in my opinion the hardest part of building a pc. I hate when they don't come pre attached. After looking up this video and reading the comments I threw it in the bin. I'm not spending hours on this because the manufacturer saved a quick buck.

thanks for that tip about walking away when getting frustrated lol needed that my mobo m3 screws that came with the case, thread into the standoffs when no mobo is installed but as soon as the mobo goes in nothing so confused about to go back for round 2!

Same here. Suffered heavily by a h610 Asus board. The backside shield was in fact impending the correct alignment of the board combined with the fact that the lian LI 205 mesh case had not one larger standoff screw as the cases used to have at the past. You see at the past the cases had the middle standoff somewhat larger and you could hook the motherboard there permitting an easier alignment with the help of the backshield. But in my case I had to deal with bad cheap backshield and without a larger standoff screw at middle. So my recommendation is to people to check those 2 things the next time they want to set up a new PC

My Antec case came with three nylon standoffs that have a two sided compressible spring sticking up (a little plastic spike sticking up with bowed springs on either side). The back and middle rows were all normal metal standoffs but the front row was left empty for these screw in nylon ones. When you install the MB the front row stick through the holes and with the springs expanded there is no slop and it aligns the MB perfectly. You could replace the one in the middle if you wanted and just have the nylon ones at the two front corners. They are pretty secure though you have to pull moderately hard to get the MB back off these spring standoffs

I had a similar issue with the asus z390a but when I insert USB product in the USB port it’s sharp, Is that normal or do I have to take out the motherboard and put it back in again? Thank you

I have an msi b550 gaming plus mobo, and a 4000d airflow case, the mobo comes with a preinstalled I/O shield and I can't seem to make it fit through the case, I think I could just push it in roughly but I worry I'll end up damaging something
