You hit the nail right on the head when mentioning about wading in water too deep! I've had a scary situation one time when wading in some fairly fast current....I damn near got swept away!! Only by the grace of God did I manage to grab an overhanging branch. I could have drown that day! Even waist deep water if the current is fast enough can be dangerous. I've never waded in fast water like that again.
blue grey . that way i can look like a rock like that bird was doing .too many people never consider that extra room when they layer up in the winter time and then have a tight fitting vest , also will you be doing anything on waders?? or wading boots???
My next article for Southern Trout Magazine is on waders. I guess it will be in the February issue. But... jumping ahead - all my research says breathable is the way to go given you can layer with wading pants or other clothing underneath and avoid the sweatbox of neoprene. I have been using cheap breathables for years and not had a problem. Once the article is done, I will do the video and it will be up faster than the magazine. Boots on the schedule as well. Thanks!
Yes, just bend it to shape. There are two ways you can sew it on. First is to sew the ring directly to the vest, but it sometimes will work its way through the break in the D ring. The second and better way is to fold a small section of material over the break in the ring and then sew the material onto the vest. Regular thread works fine. But, you can get D Rings already made - here is an example from Amazon amzn.to/2iqzezc for 50 1" rings for $9. The downside of a meth vest is when you wear on all the crack heads come out of the woods and chase you down river. Great point about the blue grey color.
