Half of all Americans have high blood pressure, also known as hypertension, and many don’t even know they have it. A healthy blood pressure is typically less than 120/80 mm Hg. If your numbers are high, work with your provider to learn about ways you can lower it. Your healthcare provider may suggest regularly self-measuring your blood pressure at home. Watch Dr. David C. Goff, Director, Division of Cardiovascular Sciences, NHLBI and Cardi-O share tips on how to accurately self-measure blood pressure.
