Unfortunately, you can't fix the typo in the dashboard. You'd have to upload the updated manuscript and start the proofing process over. It would sure be nice if they had that!

I have a question! So for publishing paperback and hardcover for people to buy - when someone orders a copy does Amazon print it along with the cover and everything or do we ourselves have to do that? Hopefully that makes sense!

They handle all of the printing and order fulfillment. You don’t have to lift a finger. All you have to sweat is sending more readers to buy your book. That’s it.

Hi Dale, When filling the Title and Subtitle do we have to enter the "colon (:) punctuation mark" after the Title of our book? Or will it be added automatically once the book is published? Please check the below example. I'm talking about the colon after the Title (the word beginners). New Diabetic Cookbook for Beginners: Easy, Tasty & Low-Carb Recipes for the Whole Year Also is it ok to add both Title and Subtitle in the Title box together? No, they’ll do that for you. Just put in the title like normal, Amazon will handle the rest.

If you come with a formatted ePub, that should be no issue. For docx, it depends. If you use the automated table of contents, KDP should detect it.

Yes, KDP publishes manga. As for the file size, keep it small as possible for ebook. And the print quality is decent but if you go with full color, it’s going to have a steep base cost. Order a proof to be sure it’s a good fit for you.

If you don't plan on publishing away from Amazon right now, stick with their free option. When you want to publish elsewhere, you might want to consider getting your own ISBN. Yes, they'll charge the wholesale cost of the book plus shipping. No, you don't have differed payments to get print proofs.

No, not at all. Use the free-assigned ISBN, especially if you don't plan to publish that book beyond Amazon. I don't think you can add A+ Content to a book that isn't published. You'll need to publish it first, then add it. I could be wrong though, so check with KDP Support. Use the phone or live chat support, they're more helpful than email.

DRM restricts access to readers, limiting the ability to share to numerous devices. Book pirates view DRM as a minor speed bump. Search on RU-vid for "how to remove DRM from Kindle books." You'll see, it's relatively easy to break. So, the only people we're truly hindering are the readers/paying customers. Hi Dale. Does it matter what the physical dimensions of the book are? For example, I'm thinking about producing a book with a physical trim size of 8.5" x 10.25" as opposed to a "standard paper size" of 8.5 x 11". Is there a problem with making it 8.5 x 10.25"?

With custom trim sizes, you will diminish your distribution. Can you get it? Sure, but you might want to research the trim size to see if it's a viable product worth publishing.

For print books, you’d set the trim size on the second part of the upload process. For ebooks, you’d have to format it as a fixed layout epub.

Contact support. Scroll to the bottom of your dashboard, click "Contact us", then fill in the details the best you can. I recommend using phone support or live chat support. Email tends to be less reliable for immediate answers.

It's not printed for free. The customer assumes the cost. KDP still has to pay for their printers, get their cut, then you get your cut after that. If you order author copies through them, they'll charge you the wholesale cost of the book plus shipping.

Hey, thanks for the kudos. And, you are NOT stupid for not knowing where to order a copy. You can do it one of two ways: Order it from the Amazon product page. Even though you'll pay full price, you'll get some of the money back in royalties. If you have Amazon Prime, you can get it shipped to you for free. If you want to order wholesale copies (base cost), you can order "author copies" in the last step of the upload process. Or within your dashboard. Should you ever get lost, scroll to the bottom of your dashboard and click "Contact us". The best options include live chat support and phone support. I avoid email support if I can help it. I haven't found them to be very useful, but that's just my experience. Yours might be different. And, holy cow! Did you say 13?! Man, I wish I had this tech back when I was 13. haha Congrats to you! You've got a bright future ahead of you.

You'll be responsible for formatting the book and creating the cover design (although they do have a cover creator, I wouldn't recommend it). Beyond that, when you or a customer orders a print copy of the book, Amazon handles the whole thing for you. All you have to do is promote the book if you want more sales. Same applies to ebooks, of course, except there's no delay like there is with print fulfillment.

For Amazon? Sadly, no. They offer the promotional options through KDP Select, but it's not a code and you have to have your ebook enrolled exclusively on Amazon to use it.

On the keywords I've put in several others so not just one and on occasion I use a very short description. I will say, that even if your book has 1K words they will still consider it "low content" BOOO. LOL! Mine is more of a workbook but the majority of the book is fill in the blanks so, it's considered low content.

Also you can slow down the speed in the setti😅gs for the video. I watch stuff at .5 or .75. .25 if I am really really in the jedi zone. Try it out.

There is no doubt to me you are perfectly clear on the process, but you are way to fast discussing the steps, and you assume others publishing knowledge background. I’ve had the same problem teaching advance planning concept etc, and was given the advice assume you are addressing 6th graders. Break it down into 5 or 10 categories, within category breakdown the sequence of events, then move on to the next category. Just my two cents

That shouldn't be an issue. I know of MANY non-US citizens using Amazon KDP. You'll just have to jump through a few hoops to make it happen.
