Hi, Amanda Heath here, creator of the Thriving Artists Business School. So in this video, I'm going to talk about the balance between selling artwork in a natural way that aligns with you and your style and attracts the right customer versus feeling pushy and salesy and icky. It's a really big fear that a lot of artists have, that we're going to come across as pushy if we start to sell our work. Now, I've seen every sales tactic out there, over the years, I've been in business a long time and built two this is my third very successful business. So I've seen a lot of great techniques and a lot of really bad ones. Nobody wants to be that dodgy car salesman where you push people and persuade them and cajole them, and even insult them. It's not what I'm interested in teaching. And it's not something that I recommend for my students, either. So
🔹how do we sell our work?
🔹And how do we connect with our customers in a way that feels authentic and aligned?

Hi I like somethings you said, but I have to say that I don't agree with identifying potential customers pain points in relation to buying art. I think that engaging customers from a point of pleasure, through telling a short story, or ASKING them about what they feel when engaging with my art makes sense. Art doesn't solve a problem, rather it creates an experience. Ide really hate to have to think of art as something that solves a problem or to sell it using that tactic or how my art is different or stands out. Customers dont care about getting the best art. That's subjective and so is experience. What its going to " bring them", my art, is an experience that they aren't getting elsewhere. And that's why charging a high ticket price is something a buyer will eagerly pay.

I have not seen a lot of artists insulting potential customers, but I have seen a lot of people insulting the artist's work...

Sadly some people have nothing better to do. More often than not it’s a reflection of them so it’s best to delete / ignore and move on x

What platforms would you suggest as far as exposure? Not chasing. Attracting.
