Providing the skills, knowledge and confidence artists need to sell their work profitably and consistently. I have built multiple six-figure businesses from scratch and helped 300+ (and counting!) artists learn how to make their passion, their full time job. I am a practising artist myself and I am the founder of the Thriving Artists Business School (TABS)
I keep arguing with my mother about this. I tell her I don't want to sell my old body of work I created before I wanted to sell my art and put it out there because it's completely different to what I am doing with my art now. She keeps telling me to put it all out there and I say No. it will make me look like I don't know who I am as an artist. interestingly though the theme of that original portfolio of work I did has been speaking to me again even though I ate developing a very new more abstract style of working. n
Hi I like somethings you said, but I have to say that I don't agree with identifying potential customers pain points in relation to buying art. I think that engaging customers from a point of pleasure, through telling a short story, or ASKING them about what they feel when engaging with my art makes sense. Art doesn't solve a problem, rather it creates an experience. Ide really hate to have to think of art as something that solves a problem or to sell it using that tactic or how my art is different or stands out. Customers dont care about getting the best art. That's subjective and so is experience. What its going to " bring them", my art, is an experience that they aren't getting elsewhere. And that's why charging a high ticket price is something a buyer will eagerly pay.
Sorry for not clarifying. I am an artist. I loved the video and wanted to collaborate with you. I make all sorts of paintings and wanted to partner with you in selling my paintings. Let me know how to contact you so we can discuss this further.
Amanda, my daughter create art but in Pakistan, there is hard to find people who love the passion and can buy th product in suitable price. I can share her work to sell through your platform.
Hi, if she has a website and learns how to sell internationally then she won’t need to rely on a local audience. Watch my Masterclass if you/she would like my help with that 👍
Hello Amanda i agree with you but i would like to know more about systems i am a artist who is trying to go full time if you could advice me as to be able to get more information you need to be more detailed as i am interested i do a lot of things myself as i have a tight budget
Hi my best advice if you’re on a budget is my ebook. It’s only £27 and covers how to build a profitable art business step by step. Here is the link IG you’re interested: ta-bs.com/workbook 🙂
Yes I know thanks, that’s why I have included captions to hopefully make it easier. However did you know that if you click the settings icon in the top right of the video you can add your own captions, slow down the speed or change the language. Hope that helps 😊
How did it go from ' What if I haven't got an audience at 3.07' , to talking about ' past buyers' ? This is what confuses me. Unless you have the audience and now where to find it , then the rest dosn't apply sorry.
If you have the audience you survey them to look for common threads. If you don’t have the audience you need to look at and poll your biggest fans, research competitors etc. The important thing is to dig deep in your ‘why’ as an artist and what your art will help people feel. Talk about that and you’ll naturally attract those who want/love the same
Having your audience and knowing where to find an audience you don’t yet have are different. Have your audience - great….then talk to them. Don’t have an audience yet? Then go where you think your ideal audience are and talk about your art, what inspired it etc.
Although laser focus is necessary and great... it can also be taken way to far where you never try anything new; and even get scared to try anything different... I have done the same thing for 12 years strait... now I can't pivot because I'm so stuck in a laser focused rut as my sales are dwindling.
Totally agree. When I’m talking about focus in this context I mean focusing on one idea at a time rather than getting distracted by shiny objects which a lot of us can be. Focus within our creative practise is good (and makes it clearer for our collectors to identify and connect with us) but if there is no experimentation / room for growth then yes it can quickly become a safety net. Do you ever have creative ‘play’ sessions where you just allow yourself total freedom? That might work.
@@amandaheathart Honestly, I don't play around with art as much I use to cuz I'm so busy with my main focus... Play sessions sound like a great idea... Now I just need to make space and time to do it. I'm too focused on the outcome of stuff too... Like if it does not make money, then it feels like a waste of time... But your right... we learn new things from play and my brain is just stiff and ridged from doing business all the time. Thanks for the advice...
I don’t, most of the systems are covered in my programme Passion into Profit, but to give you an example - one of the main systems is to automate brining your ideal customers onto your email list and them converting at a certain % into sales. This takes the stress out of not knowing where your next sale may come from. It’s one of many I cover in the programme but they are all designed to save time on repetitive tasks AND get results 🙂
Hi Amanda, I find this so helpful, thank you so much for sharing. There is a question that worries me, what do you do with NFT buyers, I get a few requests every now and then through messenger in Instagram. I have my items for sale in my website and I advertise them to be accessed through my website. This NFT is a concern to me, specially the way they contact me! Any advise you could give me, will be very appreciated. Thank you.
Great explanation, I've heard other variants of this and have been working on this but part of it still felt blurry. The way you explained this is so clear and to the point, that it just got so much simpler! Maybe we sometimes need to hear the same message presented differently by different people to really intergrate certain things, but also, the fact it's about art, your message is right on point for me, thank you!
Hi Maryse yes I think sometimes it’s timing, both when we’re ready to for it but also when it’s delivered in a way that makes sense to us. Glad it helped x
Hi Susan most artists go with the cheapest option and this is a mistake as it costs you in time, energy and money in the long run, because you run into obstacles and limitations and have to start again later. I personally recommend Shopify (shopify.pxf.io/kjYQEv) as they are built from the ground up to help you sell more in the easiest way possible. However it’s not just about the provider, it’s about the content and how you structure your site for conversions too. I hope that helps x
@@amandaheathart I have been concidering Shopify. I have Wix not active yet but I already think Wix is not going to work out for me. Shopify feels like a better option for me. And I agree cheaper options doesn't help much. I'm willing to make the investment needed, if it is going to be a profitable investment. I don't have money to watse. Thank you very much for helping me make my mind up.
Thanks. My experience is that if you don't have control of the quality: paper, ink, exact colour of your original (or as close as possible) then you are screwed. I do a one off print with my printer, it's worth getting samples till it's right. A5 is not expensive and you control all. I don't make my limited prints cheap (they go from 80 to 250$, often proportional to the original's price). Embellished, signed by number on back with a certificate. It works out good for me!
Agreed ALWAYS test print, and get a print co that you trust their calibration/ consistency. There are so many different variations of open/limited, paper/canvas etc it’s great, then it’s down to us to price accordingly 👌
This is such good advice. It’s time consumng thinking about what systems you need and then setting them up but down the track it pays off - particularly if you get successful. I am planning all this out now for my own work and it’s so slow but I know I’ll be glad later on.
Oh it really is time consuming, and it can be implementing them too, but once they are up and running (and working!) oh my goodness they make all the difference ❤️🙌
Definitely - without them we are chasing individual customers, but with them we can attract a pool of the right people into our world, knowing they are interested in our work and may be ready to buy. It’s so much easier x
