I was looking for RU-vid videos as to how to strategize my pearl jewelry business and am so happy i stumbled upon your channel! Subscribed. THANK YOU, your content is really valuable for our niche. Marina
Hi Megan, thanks for all the wonderful content! We both went to VS and I’ve been making at home for the past 10 years and I finally took that huge leap of faith and quit my day job in October. I’m now a full time jeweller and proud to call myself one, and your videos are a big help ❤
Where are you located if you don't mind my asking,I am trying to find a friend who wants to create with me and learn share ideas!! You would not believe how hard it is to find someone to tackle this venture with...I'm not sure about the MLM stuff that is plaguing this business line currently but it's rampant (especially with groups like paparazzi ' etc EVERYONE who has responded to my reaching out came with the "mlm" style business-even though I wasn't interested in doing bulk pre-made items) I am trying to do handmade, self forged and genuine/custom stuff but I have yet to have anyone willing to help me learn (I have offered to apprentice or work for free in jewelry stores learning repair work to no avail) I am better at learning from hands on work, which is my biggest issue as of now... And you would think I was trying to join the mafia off of the street that's the response that I've gotten for most people even contacted a few people on Etsy and no one was willing to help or point me in the right directions so I won't be offended if you don't reply it's just a thought I'm located in Columbus Ohio, Pacific time you might be interested in reply...if not best of luck on your endeavors!! I know it's hard to give something your all with a chance of no payoff but I also think if your heart is in something the odds of success multiply greatly!! Would love to see your stuff!!! Have a great week
I would love to have a session with you🙌. I started my jewellery business a year ago and already learned a lot from you. I’m starting to get more comfortable, but I still have a hard time pricing my jewellery. I already watched you’re pricing video and I was in shock how low Basia was pricing her jewellery, but when I calculated the price for my own jewellery with the formula you made for pricing I couldn’t believe how high it was. I thought I was doing quit well, but I see I have a lot to learn still since I want to be making jewellery my main instead of a side hustle .
Hi Sophie, you'll be entered into the giveaway! Fingers crossed for you 🤞 I know it can seem like a big jump if you've been pricing low. But what you can do is incrementally increase your prices over time. 😉 But yes, if you want to run a profitable business, you need to price your pieces appropriately.
Hello Megan So kind you’re giving a coaching session away, it’s so inspiring to see someone who has made a handmade jewelry business a success 🎉 I would love to learn more 😊
Hi Tammy, thanks for your lovely comment. Knowing I am able to help others makes me really happy ☺️ Your comment has been entered for the giveaway. 🤞✨😉 Be nice to meet you and chat about your jewellery
Love your videos! You have the best advice and I always feel reassured after watching! Fingers crossed for the giveaway this week - would love a taster session ! :-)
Thanks Megan for a wonderful video. I am so grateful that you impart your knowledge. I have watched many of your videos- and what you say does make sense especially knowing your customer that really helped me to design pieces that I love. Hopefully I’ll be able to sell some. Atm I have just given away as presents. I am really thrilled by the recipient reaction 😊 I think I suffer massive imposter syndrome!🤦♀️
You're so welcome! Glad it's inspiring you! Giving as gifts can be a good first "testing the waters" but then if you are serious about having a jewellery business, you will need to conquer that imposter syndrome and start charging. 😉
Very new to this, am starting out with chain mail and jump rings, but also some pendant necklaces and beading. I'm excited about getting into design and construction of fine metal pieces, but need to outfit my work area for soldering etc. So glad I've found someone who's been through all the steps I'm going to take and has a road map for others to follow.
Wonderful! That's really exciting! In the beginning it's great to experiment with different materials and techniques till you find what you like best. 😉
Hi Megan. I am so glad that I found your channel! You give good, sound advice in all aspects of metalsmithing. I have learned so much, a one to one session with your would be a joy!
You are so welcome! I'm glad you are finding the videos helpful! 🤗 And with your comment, you will be entered into the giveaway. Keep your fingers crossed for next week 😉✨🤞
Good video thanks! I’m in shops but they are more touristy and not reall the right market. But I’ve been in them for years. Trying to put lower price point items there and find some more artsy sellers
Finding the right target audience and then the right shops accordingly is so key! And yes, good idea to have different collections and price points for different types of shops if you are branching out
Watching your videos has made me so much more confident in my work and the value of my pieces. I am currently working on getting ready for my first market and would love to know the best, or most convient ways for displaying and packaging items in order to keep track of everything while helping multiple people.
I'm so glad to hear that! Good luck with the market! In terms of your display, it most importantly needs to reflect your aesthetic and be practical. I keep all my packaging under the table in a box or bag so it's all easily accessible. You'll find a way that works for you. You've got this! And it's 1 of many more 😉✨
Hiya, I have been running my own jewellery business for the past 10 years. Used to make it all myself, but now I have a manufacturer who makes my designs. Now I make the first ones only. 😉
About everything around being too cheap, I was always intimidated by the cheap Chinese imports. But, cheaper jewelry has become such junk that I don't feel so intimidated.
Ahh! I m sorry you missed the chance to enter this giveaway! I do have some 1:1 coaching slots open at the moment if you are interested. Don't hesitate to get in touch! Thank you for watching! :)
Ahoj Megan, I wrote a long comment about how you compressed Possitioning and Marketing Mix theory into 8 minutes, but RU-vid deleted it for no obvoius reason. Long story short: Who needs Philip Kotler, Megan Collins better... 😀
