This video has helped my serve far more than any other PB serve video. At first, the comment about the paddle being higher than the wrist bothered me, as that would be illegal. However when David actually strikes the ball, his paddle is below his wrist. David has a very nice serve. My big take away...and what has made a huge difference in my serve is that I noticed that David really drops his right shoulder before striking the ball. It generates a lot of pace and as a former tennis player, it is a motion that I am very comfortable with. Dave does not mention this and yet it is the most significant portion of the entire video. It also insures that the serve is legal. I practiced hitting thousands of serves and didn't have the power and consistency. After dropping my shoulder and swinging through the ball, it changed everything within five minutes. This has made a huge difference in my serve.
Btw I have different genre content but around 17k subscribers. Ive learned people are really more about the actual content than the fancy editing for the long term subscribers. Keep at it!
This is how I serve. The ball jumps up at you when you are the receiving player. I also put more spin on the ball at times so it kicks up sideways. I do this by twisting my torso a little bit. Too much of this though can strain your lower back.
So you have a tutorial where you serve side is hidden from the camera, blocked by your body? Please redo this with camera close to the ball when served and unblocked by your body. Then on contact you need a slo-mo edit.
i’ve been working on this for a while, getting more consistent and knocking some aces against some better players by hitting the front left corner and kicking left. Do you ever do this serve from the left serving position? the aim/foot position seems to get me messed up from the left. Goal would be close to center line and kicking left a little. Especially when they are more towards the corner.
Try turning your upper body and feet more toward the direction your hitting the ball.I stay in the corner when serving from the backhand side,so I have more of a chance returning the ball with my forehand.Glad I can help
I was hoping that this video would be better but be better. Slow motion, camera angles, camera nearer, detailed explanation and slow narration of the strokes would have been helpful.
I hope this is a joke. Wearing his minto shirt and saying ummm a thousand times. No instructional skill at all. Jesus save the people who take this as gospel
