How to change oil on an ishift or mdrive transmission. You need a 5 gallon bucket of transmission fluid, a fluid filter, 32mm socket and a 1 1/2 inch socket.

Great video brother greetings from the United States Virgin islands in the carribbean Us territory st.thomas this was a great introduction to the Volvo truck transmissions I am a journeyman heavy equipment mechanic my dad taught me most of what I know so far I have nine years of heavy duty truck and equipment experience I am willing to learn more about these trucks and other equipment you work on thanks for the video keep making more videos God bless

When you fill the transmission with oil. How is it supposed to look when the semi truck is on. How is the oil level suppos to look when it's resent startde. Hope it makes sence.

Great video, 1 question my mack looks like it has a weep hole at the bottom, and is leaking. Is that a sign of internal damages or did something come up and crack it.

Clean it up and see where it's coming from exactly could be bad seal. They are pretty picky, if something broke on inside you would know

had a coolant leak and contaminated the transmission fluid with coolant how and what to use to flush and re fill

I understand that Ishift fluid is expensive, I would make sure radiator is fixed then drain and refill with regular manual transmission fluid or oem fluid for flush and then drain, and also disconnect the line from radiator and remove trans filter, to get out as much as you can. Then reconnect everything, replace filter and fill with oem fluid. I've seen this only once and the transmission was making noise by the time the driver found out so we replaced the transmission due to bad bearings

Depending on year, trans cooler either on engine radiator or on left side of transmission. No dipstick but looking glass on right side

Common problem with the Ishift.... I'm a mechanic for a trucking company with a fleet of volvos..... this issue is caused by internal transmission failure...... try this to get by, when you put the truck into reverse, push the + button on the shifter, that'll put you in high range reverse and the jerking will go away when you use high range.
