Gas hobs are simple basic appliances, but unfortunately many engineers are not meticulous when carrying out servicing. Follow me on twitter for advice and guidance @Jonathon_Hallam
I'm a home owner but just wanted to see what a gas tester was supposed to do during an inspection hob. I appreciate you taking the time to compile this video! Thank you and all the best to you Jonathon!
It is not a "nipple" it is an injector. Also, you should not use pins to clear blocked injectors as you can inlarge the hole, you should remove the injector and use a suitably sized fuse wire which is softer and will not damage it.
Hi I have the same hob , but have got no spark.... do you know what is the reason ? and any solution ???? i have watched lot of your vedios , really helpfull .. i have passesd my acs last month... please reply if you get a moment.. thanks
I would recommend cleaning the ignition tip then checking the ceramic shaft for cracks, also on some hobs under the ignition button is a space for batteries
Great video. Can you offer some advice...one of the gas taps on my hob is stuck, I can push it down but it wont turn to light the burner. Should I try to lubricate it with WD40 or similar.
Nice dog! The gas hob looks very similar to mine but I can’t find a manufacturer or model number anywhere to be able to order service parts Do I have to remove the built in hob to find the identification plate?
You don't push dirt/debris back into the gas venture housing! Take injector out and clean from back to front, otherwise the dirt/debris you push in could block injector when gas is turned back on.....
Hello I'm installing a gas hob i have a question I'm putting on a lpg pipe nozzle. On the hob i have a rubber gas washer i got in the plumbers merchants. Is it best to use the washer on its own or gas tape. The washer i got was a rubber one most of them I've seen are not rubber. Thanks
Any idea why my neighbour's hob would be tripping the electric? Hobs are all clean, but the ignition was still sparking the first time it tripped. Now it trips when I press the gas knobs? Going to change the fuse but not sure why it would have blown if that's the problem. Thanks.
@@alinazir5485 wtf 6mm cable for a gas hob. You've got to be kidding. 0.75mm heat resistant flex is the requirement. 6mm would be for an electric dual oven or shower =
Hi I have a cannon all gas cooker. Non plugged in. The ignition switch stopped clicking and has had to be lit manually with matches. I have since replaced ignition switch with no joy and now as I was advised I have also replaced spark generator with still no joy. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
@@MrJiggyJones does it have an ignition button? If so remove it and make the contacts to the rear. Being careful not to touch them. If you get spark replace the button. Sometimes it can be cleaned by saturating in rubbing alcohol (isopropyl). Also check there's no corrosion on the battery terminal contact points.
You know when you turn the job on and the flame is on, and you say there's a clear blue flame.. why do we still see orange flames appearing? The one I'm currently using does the same. Is that normal? :)
@@warriorsofwarmth yes I managed to partially open it but it's got electrodes working on a current to light it... I forgot how to get these back together... Now the electrical part of it is non functional 😔
What’s the reason for the leak spray in the nobs ? Don’t you do tightness testing ensuring their are no leaks it should come up while your doing tightness testing thanks
Check the gas isolation tap. All hobs should be fitted with a service valve. You usually find this has been turned down. Or possibly the ECV at the gas meter isn't full open. If neither of the above then a faulty gas regulator, restriction in the pipework or the undersized pipework.
Hobs operating on butane / propane bottled gas should burn predominantly blue with no yellow tips and associated sooting of pans and kettles. Yellow tips with soot on pans / kettles from an LPG ready hob or recently converted hob using the supplied LPG jets indicate an aeration problem that should preferably be looked at and put right by a LPG qualified gas engineer. Ovens and grills run on LPG cylinders do produce a very slight visible yellow tip at the top of the blue flame operating on butane gas at 28-30 mbar pressure but are otherwise blue on propane at 37mbar pressure.
I've a hob where 1 burner ignition won't stop clicking both before & after ignition. I've cleaned it thoroughly & seen no improvement. I'm guessing something needs to be replaced, is it a DIY job or do I need to call someone out?
@@warriorsofwarmth Thanks for the fast response, you push the gas knob & turn to ignite & I've checked the knob to see if anything's stuck but all seems ok. Its a Caple C769G.
