Derek shows us inside a gas hob and explains what you will find and how it works. This is a gas tutorial for trainee gas engineers and remember you must be gas safe registered to work on gas.
Excellent explanation on this gas hob very impressed on the way you have explained it I love all the videos that I have watched so far I am a new trainee keep it up please.
Really appreciate these vids.. I've only qualified mid-January and all this helps to consolidate the learning/training we go through on MLP's and shows some things we weren't shown. Excellent.
Cool video. One of the burners on my hob doesn’t spark. This video has nicely explained the reason and has given me a good understanding. Thanks Derek 👍🏻Really useful. Keep them coming. I’m catching up 🤓 Asian Jon. Training.
Thank you very much, I used your technique to clean the injector! for years my wife has been eating my head about getting it fixed. I thought it might have been easier to change my wife than the hob but thanks to you, I was wrong. Now I need a story to tell her, it was very difficult dearest, It took me all day.
Excellent video. Any tips for an ignitor that clicks and sometimes lights (1 in 100) even after I've cleaned and checked everything on your video and others? Is it a duff ignitor control thing? The oven is a Canon Chichester and is about 15 years old but in great condition otherwise.
Thanks. Bought a house with a diplomat gas hob and was getting a small amount of yellow intermittent licks in flame (never had gas) but apart from cleaning the top distributors, I didn't want to take top off (call in gas engineer obvs). No need after seeing this.
This is exactly what I am looking for. I have a problem with the ignition, sometimes it's on permanently and sometimes it doesn't come on at all? Each of the gas knobs has it's own spark I don't have one common one.
Brilliant video....just wondering if the gas tap was letting by and readings were found at the burner with with knob in the off position....would greasing the barrel with graphite grease cure this problem also along with making it easier to turn if stiff. Thanks in advance 👏👏👏 Lovin your vids 😄
Great video. I have bought an old mobile home which I've moved into. I tested the gas water heater which was only tested a few months ago and that works fine. The problem is with the gas cooker. I turned one of the knobs and the gas started coming out but when I turned the knob back to off position, the gas kept coming out. I had to run out and turn off the valve on the propane tank and haven't touched it since after. After looking at your video, would I be correct in saying that the graphite grease may completely dry and preventing the valve from shutting off or am I barking up the wrong tree? I have asked 4 local registered gas installers to have a look but they said it'll be months before they get a chance to call out. I am badly in need of the cooker. Thanks I appreciate your feedback and loved the video. Great detail 👍
Great video! I have a question. I was recently melting chocolate for a cake, and spilt it over a burner, and now set chocolate has stopped gas coming through the injector. Can i get hot water and a toothbrush to clean this without taking it apart? Again great vid, thanks!
does a new gas hob have to be hard wired or can the ignition be put on a plug?, been watching a few of your videos as i need a new one, i found the videos interesting though i dont meddle with gas just like knowing how my stuff works.
I'm following your procedure, at 11:38 when you removed the 2 screws for the valve switch it looks like there's space for an O ring. Mine didnt have O rings, did yours have?
What is an injector? An injector is an electromechanical system in a car that is involved in the formation of air/fuel mixture. This term refers to a fuel injector that injects fuel, but also refers to a fuel system with multiple atomizers. The injector works on all types of fuel, thanks to which it is used on diesel, gasoline and gasoline engines. In the case of gasoline and gas equipment, the fuel system will be identical (thanks to this, it is possible to install LPG equipment on them to combine air and gas). The principle for gas stoves is the injector, an air feed to get the right flame identical, only it works under a certain pressure that is mixed with the gas.
Hi I’ve got an issue with my Gas Hob, when cleaning it one day a lot of water got into the igniter switch and I believe that it shorted out so I’ve replaced the igniter switch, and I still don’t get any ignition spark. I haven’t been able to check the plug which may be a blown fuse but I don’t know where the power outlet is in my kitchen for the hob any ideas or suggestions?
I want to increase the gas flow rate of the 5th center "Wok" burner of a Bompani freestanding 5-burners model ? Can I drill the hole a bit larger and adjust the air intake accordingly?
10:37 - If I had a Quid for every carburettor jet I've cleaned out in a similar way..... :-) BUT, us 'ruffty-tuffty' vehicle mechanics used to SUCK the crap out of the jet (apparently, you get more 'ooomph' rather than blowing!) and then the job was a good 'un! No cans of 'namby-pamby' compressed air 'when I were a lad!' ;-) Of course, Petrol - the good old 4 star at least - is apt to taste better than stale cooking fat!... ;-)
