I always teach newbies the “slow dip it and fast rip it” method. Once you feel that bite, dip the rod tip to give a little slack in the line, then rip it, with the dip being about 25% speed of the rip. Pretty much the exact thing you’re explaining with an easy way for newbies to remember it.

Thanks so much for this tip! I just tried it after i went fishing in my pond, and it really helps me remember it! Although i've been fishing since i was a kid i just recently got really into it. I bought my first baitcaster two days ago.

When fishing with the buddy and mine missed about 13 strikes. I was trying to set the hook on the first taps. And wonder I didn't catch anything and half my worm was missing that explains everything... Thanks, that helped a lot. I'll get back with you let you know how things go.

Thanks dude.....yea, missed one yesterday, I think my rod tip was up too high. I'll keep it down low and wait a few seconds after I feel a bite then bring the rod tip up and set the hook. Thanks again!!

Newest vid some imma drop a question and pray someone has an answer… my son and I have been fishing a beautiful crystal clear reservoir in Hanover PA.. heard it fairly large large mouth bass in there. Seen them jump but can never seem to catch one. I’ve tossed everything I have into this place and have yet to catch anything. Anyone have any advice they could possibly share? Color… type.. anything would help. Thank you

Crystal clear usually means green pumpkin and other colors that are natural. Also, try more finesse style rigs, like a ned rig or dropshot. A big thing that can help is use fluorocarbon. It's virtually invisible underwater. Hope this helps!

Yeah I was using fluorocarbon 12 pound. Tossed drag and drop worms from Googan squad and also slim shake. Wanted that too water bite tho. 😞
